FIVE NAPS IN A ROW: SHAMROCK is STILL NAP HAPPY !! He landed his fifth winning NAP in a row yesterday with Geoffrey Chaucer – the only one of the current sequence who has started odds-on. He now heads to Roscommon on search of nap number six.

FANTATSIC FIVE. Geoffrey Chaucer landed the odds and made it five for me after the run was put on hold when Navan was abandoned on Saturday:

The run of FIVE winning NAPS is now:

Tuesday: NOBLE INN (NAP) WON 5/4

Wednesday: FORMAL BID (NAP) WON 6/4
Thursday: CASTLETOWN BRIDGE (NAP) WON 3/1
Friday: HE’S NO SAINT (NAP) WON 15/8
Saturday:
NON RUNNER
Sunday: GEOFFREY CHAUCER (NAP) WON 4/7

And there’s only been one selection each day – the nap – so it’s five from five.

It was a nice win for Geoffrey Chaucer.

The son of Montjeu was always travelling sweetly under Joseph O’Brien and took up the running from the long-time leader All Set To Go just over a furlong from home.

The 4/7 favourite stuck to his task well despite carrying his head awkwardly and knuckled down to record a one and a quarter length victory from stablemate Oklahoma City.

Geoffrey Chaucer’s success means Aidan O’Brien has now trained the winner of the Beresford Stakes on 13 separate occasions, including the 2009 winner St Nicholas Abbey.

We’ll stick with Aidan O’Brien on Monday and another son of Montjeu – but just switch from a poet to a painter !

John Constable was sent off favourite at Gowran and finished fourth. With normal improvement he should prove very hard to beat in the opener unless any of the newcomers are well above average.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: John Constable (2.35 Roscommon)
