Tonight it’s over to Manchester for ‘The Laurels’ at Belle Vue, which is live on Sky.

I have chosen two of the eight races to have a dig at.

Please note I’ll also be covering the following meetings:

Wimbledon Leger Nov 20th
Eclipse Notts Nov 28th
Essex Vase Romford Dec 12th
Oaks Wimbledon Dec 20th

BELLE VUE 8.00

Let’s start with the 8.00, runners here are thin on the ground with a lot of dogs badly drawn over this specialised trip of 590m.

It’s a short run to the first bend, so early pace is vital to get you into a challenging position, stamina is not a priority.

My selection here is TRAP 3 Starmount Swift who has that early pace. I expect him to make all from trap to line. A reproduction of his 2 3/4 length second to Jaytee Monroe in the Brighton Belle Final at Hove should see us collect our winnings.

TRAP 1 is slow to get going with a Belle Vue trial of 35.37. TRAP 2 is paceless which will help our selection, who is a railer.

TRAP 5 would be inconvenienced by having TRAP 4 on his inside who runs middle to wide and also has beaten TRAP 6 by 1 1/2 lengths so TRAP 4 is the main danger to our Nap.

Back TRAP 3 Starmount Swift (NAP) from anything from 2.75 upwards

BELLE VUE 9.25

My next best is TRAP 1 Fire Height Spec in the 9.25 who is one from two at Belle Vue and almost certain to lead the slow starting TRAP 2.

My selection is 7/16 and got beat in the Northern Flat Championship but was badly drawn from 5 and beaten 7 lengths by Alien Planet who runs in the final at 9.45. Normal service should resume with him wearing the red jacket.

TRAP 3 is down in distance, has won 8 from 52, but has never won shorter than 480m. TRAP 5 is struggling to reproduce his Irish form where he won 11 races. TRAP 4 has had only 5 races and needs to step up on his trail on the 16 Oct of 28.17. The main danger is TRAP 6 who has won 6 races over CD and would be a threat is avoiding early trouble.

Back TRAP 1 between 2.2 and 2.4.

THE BIG RACE

It’s hard to find a lay this week even though I think Farloe Warhawk will be short if going off 1.66 and under but he is the ‘daddy’ even though there is a lot of early pace in the race. He is 7 from 7 from TRAP 1 and 4 from 5 from TRAP 2, but the race is a look on.
