A FREE WINNER: DAQMAN delivered one winner from his two bets on Sunday. Freedom’s Light, an 8 point bet, who won at 7/4 for a net profit of 15.5 points on the day.

LINGFIELD: It’s another day when DAQMAN will keep his number of bets low but hopefully on target like yesterday.

There is so much still to reflect on from Royal Ascot – and I will be doing that over the coming weeks to analyse what we learned in terms of future performances.

It was a thrilling week and the only downside seems to have been another drop in Channel 4 viewing figures – it’s a staggering statistic but Royal Ascot has now lost 58% of it’s audience in just two years since it migrated from the BBC.

This comes despite on-course attendances being UP 2.3% on the week overall and other sports (namely cricket, also on Channel 4) reporting record viewing figures.

Other things to come out of the ‘wash-up’ is a desire to see more internationally trained runners which were down on what we’ve become accustomed to. Mind you, we may need to start handicapping Wesley Ward’s two-year-old sprinters in the future.

All in all, a cracking week and one in which the backers GENERALLY won over the layers / bookmakers. Treve being the notable short priced disappointment.

I got my head in front on Sunday with Freedom’s Light at Pontefract winning at 7/4 to lock away 9.5 points profit on the day.

I’m sticking with Lingfield for my bets on Monday. A busy day at the Surrey venue with eight races on the Polytrack.

The 2.45 is a weak handicap and I fancy Minley here. The BETDAQ market is held up by the top weight Thataboy who looks to have gone off the boil and finished stone last at Bath last time out. Even allowing for the fact that came in a better, class 4, race he looks one to swerve for the time being.

Minley ran well over the six furlong trip here in March when chasing home the favourite Almargo. That was on his first start for Charlie Fellowes and for low grade handicappers you are always looking for reasons for improvement. Those reasons today are the application of a visor for the first time and the drop back to five furlongs.

Roger Varian had a winner here on Saturday night to cap a brilliant week after his Royal Ascot success with Cursory Glance in the Albany Stakes.

He runs the debutant Rashash in the 3.55 and he could easily be good enough to go in at the first time of asking.

The yard have a 1 in 4 strike-rate with debutants so far this season and this fellow already has entries in Listed company but the market signals are not strong – certainly in early trading.

Richard Hannon’s Le’Etacq looks the best of those with experience after his Goodwood second and is the bet – but I will also have an insurance stake on Rashash.

The 4.25 should be a match between Telefono and Wrood who is narrowly preferred. The James Fanshawe trained runner was a course and distance second on debut behind odds-on favourite Rasameel.

DAQMAN’S BETS (staked to win 20 points)
BET 11pts win (nap) MINLEY (2.45 Lingfield)
BET 4.5pts win L’ETACQ (3.55 Lingfield) and BET 1pt win (stakes saver) RASHASH
BET 14pts win WROOD (4.25 Lingfield)
