‘NONSENSE’ CHELTENHAM BETS IN BOOKIES’ LISTS: Some Cheltenham bets are only insurance, as trainers dither as to which race to go for. But some odds for the same horses are so big in BETDAQ offers that they make nonsense of the bookies’ ante-post lists. There’s even wishful thinking, as Daqman finds out.

THE NAP RUNS AT FFOS LAS: Yet again Daqman’s nap ran in the ‘threes’ without winning yesterday (results in the last 11 days 22WWWW222W3). Has he given the nod to the right one at Ffos Las this afternoon?

How can you win when the bookies get it right? That’s an easy one: just stick with BETDAQ offers. It’s the biggest insurance policy right now for the Cheltenham Festival.

Boylesport and Ladbrokes have promoted Quevega to head the World Hurdle market at 3-1, yet she is 10.0 with BETDAQ layers, who make her odds on for the Mares’ Final instead.

Who’s got it right? It doesn’t matter at this stage. Just pick up some of the 10.0 Quevega and you’ve got insurance at three times the price.

If you remember, I took Monksland for this column at 11.0 for a jackpot bet (to win 30 points) for this same World Hurdle with BETDAQ from an orange list of offers totting up to an underround.

There’s still a total probability of less than 100% as I write, 96.22 to be precise, and Monksland is down to 9.2 (thanks very much).

The Quevega-type situation is repeated in the Ryanair with Flemenstar. Hills at a miserly 5-2 and Ladbrokes at 3-1 reckon Flemenstar will take them on here, instead of the Champion Chase and the Gold Cup.

But BETDAQ layers would give you 9.6 this morning: again that’s more than three times Hills’ fixed odds. Take a position and your insurance could turn out to be a bet on the favourite!

The Champion Chase looks all over for Sprinter Sacre but, as Nicky Henderson admits to sleepless nights to get the 5-2 on shot to post at Cheltenham, BETDAQ layers will give you fantastic odds about the rest of the field at a 107% total ‘book.’

If you think this is Flemenstar’s preferred race, you can get 12.0, where Ladbrokes go only 4-1. While you get it both ways with Betdaq, whichever race is chosen, at 9.6 and 12.0, you can’t get it either way with Ladbrokes at 3-1 and 4-1.

Fancy Puffin Billy for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle? At 16.0 BETDAQ offers, he’s almost double the 8-1 listed by five of the big-name firms, including the L word and that upHill struggle for value!

That, the bookies will insist, is because he’s 8-1 for the Neptune. Yes, guys, we’re listening, but he’s also 9.6 on BETDAQ! And, by the way, your favourite, Pont Alexandre – at 5-1 in five places – is 9.8 on the exchange.

In more races than one, where there’s a double entry, you get fair-do’s and fair value on BETDAQ in BOTH races, where the bookies take a position and go tight on one of them. Or (cheeky devils) on BOTH!

* WISHFUL THINKING: Williams Wishes, 16-1 all round with bookmakers for the Champion Chase, barring 20-1 in a place, and 19.0 on BETDAQ this morning, is not to be confused with Wishfull Thinking in the same race, nor indeed with the Williams Wishes recommended at 25-1 in the trade paper this morning!
