DAQMAN’S PENNIES FROM HEAVEN: The 1.50, 2.25 and 3.00 Newbury plus the Summer Plate at Market Rasen (3.20) give Daqman hopes of singing in the rain and going 250 points clear of Pricewise of the Racing Post. The current score in their value challenge is 53-9 and the gap between them 234 points.

SPRINT FOR BETDAQ 25-1 SHOT: One race not involved in the challenge is the Super Sprint at Newbury, for which Daqman finds a 26.0 shot. He also takes 16.0 and 14.5 offers in the Summer Plate. The day opens with his nap at Newbury.

RAIN SUPPLIES REMARKABLE BET

1.50 Newbury The classy Royal Hunt Cup sixth Remarkable looks a stand-out at 3.85 in the BETDAQ orange this morning. If his close-up finish in the Jersey Stakes last season on soft does not convince you that the rain holds no terrors for him, take a look at his breeding.

He is by soft-ground sire Pivital out of a mare by soft–groun d sire Cadeaux Genereux. Straight Right has never won on turf.

2.25 Newbury A lot of negatives. Spark Plug’s wins have come on firmish ground. So, too Best of Days, who was very disappointing at Ascot. What About Carlo is difficult to win with. Mount Logan is at his best on easier, turning tracks.

We are probably choosing between Arthenus (BETDAQ 10./0) , who gets his groiund and drops back to his level, and Thikriyaat (6.4) also back from Group attempt and in cheekpieces for t he first time. At t hese offers in a 107% overroiund we can be ton bot gh!

MEMORY THAT PICK COULD AXE

3.00 Newbury Frankie’s back! His mount, Magical Memory (BETDAQ 4.4), finished in front of Tupi at York on the soft when running up to Tasleet in May before that one split The Tin Man (last year’s winner of this) and Limato in the Diamond Jubilee.

The 9.8 offer Koropick is a clear and present danger, second to the progressive Battaash, then beating older horses (Intissaab second) at Newcastle.

3.20 Market Rasen (Summer Plate) Two previous winners return at a double-figure age. Brave Spartacus won this two years ago but is 1-16 since. It’s A Gimme won it way back in 2014 and has never scored again!

Earthmoves is the most recent CD winner, in the official trial for this race in June, but – come and look! – is now 11lb worse off with the fourth horse, Viens Chercher.

Cup Final, Days Of Heaven, Earthmoves and Poker School do particularly well going right-handed. Earthmoves looks badly handicapped against proven class-2 winners like Days Of Heaven and Alcala.

Cup Final (BETDAQ 16.0 this morning) likes to track the pace which is essential at Rasen. And, as a 3m hurdles winner, will be staying on when others are bursting a lung.

With a couple of exceptions, the winner of t his has landed a gamble, two of t hem since 2009 trained by Jonjo O’Neill, who saddles two, of which I’dliketheoption (14.5 offers) is progressive and a ‘hidden horse’ in that he steps up in trip and is bred for it.

DREAM OF A 25-1 BETDAQ HIT..

3.35 Newbury (Super Sprint) Ignoring one year when there was heavy going, the results by stall have included a run of four winners from 13, 15, 14 10 and three from 5, 1 and 2.

The highest 10 stalls have managed five places – second twice and third three times – but there has been no winner from higher than gate 15, though rain might muddy the picture.

In that case, a higher stall might win – as it did when the going was heavy – and, of course, we are in the dark about the ability of these youngsters on the ground. Its’ a stab in the dark.

Pursuing The Dream, a 26.0 on BETDAQ, is the ‘hidden horse’, cannoned into at Goodwood and then short of room at the start (finished sixth) of the Queen Mary. The trainer is capable of getting one ready for a hit.
