TON-UP ARC GAMBLE AT BETDAQ 10.0: Daqman’s beloved Enable, his 25-1 Epsom Oaks winner, is hot favourite for the Arc de Triomphe but she’s had a long season, and next week’s Arc trials in France could bring a big threat, one of them an English contender at 10.0 on BETDAQ this morning is a ton-up bet ante-post.

DON’T MISS DAQMAN’S EURO STARS! Today our man has two naps, one in France on a horse described by race readers as ‘scintillating’ on his Flat debut, the other a jumper lined up for Worcester by a trainer in form.

CRACKING BETDAQ ARC OFFER

Take 10.0 Cracksman for the Arc! John (punters’ godsend) Gosden revealed yesterday that Cracksman will run in the Prix Niel next Sunday, perhaps the most recognised Arc de Triomphe trial.

Best-yet son of Frankel, Cracksman, placed in two Derbys, ran away with the Great Voltigeur like an improved horse but Gosden needs to know if there is the instant acceleration to win the Niel and the Arc.

Cracksman’s Arc mission has been overshadowed by superstar stablemate Enable, but Gosden knows that any horse – even a champ – can suddenly decide, mentally or physically, enough is enough for one season.

She’s run six times, winning five on the bounce, including four Oaks – Cheshire, Epsom, Irish and Yorkshire – plus a little matter of slamming Ulysses in the King George.

With Ulysses next in the Arc market after Enable, Cracksman is the Arc value and the signs are that only Gosden can beat Gosden in the big one at Chantilly.

A trainer has to please all his owners, and to have a ‘second string’ like Cracksman and a world champion, Enable, in the same race is a surplus of riches.

As the man said, they may as well have a standing Arc start from the sprint stalls at Chantilly, such is the way they doss in the first mile of the race. Then there’s the little matter of the draw, for which (traditionally) the Brexiting English always seem to get the worst of the deal.

At little better than evens Enable and 10.0 Cracksman there is only one bet right now on BETDAQ. If the English colt won the Niel, he would be half that price.

Meanwhile, Enable’s jockey Frankie Dettori, so entertaining, and usually so cool, rode some stinkers yesterday. He chose to race behind a wall of horses on Purser in the Solario Stakes and wondered – and wandered – about trying to get through, which he didn’t. No way.

Then Frankie got a masterclass from Andrea Atzeni. When Lincoln Rocks set a suicidal pace in the Atalanta Stakes, Frankie pushed Nathra up to the front rank, using her up, while Atzeni kept Aljazzi out the back until able to scoot by the tired horses in the final furlong.

A SOUND CHANCE FOR CHARLIE

3.20 Baden-Baden (Grosser Preis Von Baden) Godolphin aim to clean up today, in France, through two-year-olds trained by Charlie Appleby, and in Germany, where Saeed Bin Suroor aims two at this Group-1 grand prix.

Prize Money beat Postponed at Meydan in the Spring but was well behind Iquitos in Munich a month ago, when stablemate Best Solution was second, and there’s not much between Iquitos and Guignol on earlier form.

Since they seem all of a heap, I’m attracted to Windstoss, the lightly-raced winner from a big field for the Germany Derby in Hamburg in early July, and put away for this, which is his Arc trial.

3.10 Chantilly There are four consecutive Group races at Chantilly today, the track where the Arc will be run this year, three of them are for two-year-olds.

Looking to the future, Sound And Silence, whose dam is related to Barathea, is unlikely to be one for the 2018 Classics, having been well used already, festooned with aids – tongue-tie (left off today) and cheekpieces – to land two wins out of five, including a Listed at York on the last day.

Formidable Kitt, by a sprint champion out of a Queen Mary winner, hasn’t shown anything like that sort of form on firm ground, so connections are trying an easy surface, through such a preference is not in the pedigree.

Rioticism also looks fairly well exposed, well down the field in this year’s Queen Mary, then winner of a Listed on a lesser French track, from one that finished last in another Listed at Deauville. That one was Rimini, who reopposes today. Mister Picnic was a modest third in a Group 3, also at Deauville.

5.40 Chantilly Charlie Appleby, who trains Sound And Silence, has three more decent juveniles, Stage Magic (5.40) and, in the same race, Expressly and Wild Illusion (6.10), as he bids for a Godolphin hat-trick.

But, though every two-year-old’s second run is always a worry, Olmedo (5.40) appears to be the star attraction at Chantilly today.

Olmedo set Deauville alight with a scintillating maiden success and, since his dam’s sire is soft-ground-stallion Pivotal, he should translate his easy-traveling style to the deeper surface today.

PUT THE KITTY ON CUMANI..

3.30 Brighton White Chocolate had a hard race when beaten at Goodwood recently, and there isn’t an ounce between Impressive Day and Marie Josephe on their recent one-two at this track.

Luca Cumani is sure to have a soft spot for Kitty Boo, who is related down the dam’s line to his Derby winner Kahyasi. He’s brought her along steadily and should know the time of day with Great Court, who left him for Roger Varian.

3.45 Worcester Bath trainer Neil Mulholland is in fine form, with Noel Fehily landing two of his recent winners, including one here at Worcester.

Mrs Burbidge had a run on the Flat recently and could cage Cosmic Tigress, who is a glass horse, never able to put two wins together, except two hurdles successes 21 months apart!

4.15 Worcester It’s helter-Skelton in the jumps table, with trainer Dan already on 62 winners for the season, with a stunning 31% strike rate, and rider Harry on 33% with 56 hits.

Wynford has stepped up from class 5 to class 4, two miles to 20 furlongs, and is now in class 3, and likely to be a price with Chris Down’s novice, Foxy Act, on his tail.
