10.5 HIDDEN HORSE IN 225-1 TRIO: Daqman today spots a horse dropped in class at Musselburgh and which wins at this time of year. That’s his Hidden Horse at 10.5 on BETDAQ. His nap is at Kempton tonight. In between, one he describes as ‘go, go, go’ at Catterick makes up his Daq Multiples doubles and a treble of around 225-1.

THE ARC AND ST LEGER WINNERS? Daqman’s column opens with predictions for the Arc de Triomphe and St Leger from the ratings climbers since he listed three-year-old colts before the Derby. See how they’ve run and what you can expect in the autumn.

CELEBRATION MILE ABC TOMORROW: Daqman’s ratings update contains two horses down to run in Saturday’s Celebration Mile at Goodwood. Look out tomorrow for his ABC Guide to the race, which tests both the form and stats.

HOW IT LOOKED BEFORE THE DERBY..

‘The picture is getting clearer (I think)’. That was my opening line when I compiled these rankings for three-year-old colts on June 1, with the Derbys and Royal Ascot in mind.

You’ll see from the up-to-date table beneath it what has happened to them all, and you’ll spot the new kids on the block.

I predict the retirement of Golden Horn and Gleneagles; but, after success in the Arc de Triomphe for Jack Hobbs, he will race again next year.

Look out for a cracking St Leger with the improver Order Of St George likely to closely challenge stablemate Highland Reel.

HIDDEN ASSET FOR SCOTTISH PUNTERS

CATTERICK They’ve thrown everything at Plane Song (4.40) today! And, for that reason, I thought the 5.8 worth taking in the BETDAQ orange this morning. Tick these off:

Plain Song travels up from Newmarket for a yard which has near on a 50% strike rate on the course.

He’s been gelded, so the bad behaviour which cost him a race when odds on at Ascot should have been sorted. Just in case, he’s visored for the first time, which suggests ‘go, go, go.’

MUSSELBURGH The high draw does well in sprints here but I feel you can delete the grey Secret Asset (stall 11 in the 3.00 race) since he is a 10-year-old who has failed 18 times since his only win in four years and prefers a sound surface.

Jinky (in 10) does his winning at Ayr, and Lexington Place (9) does his on firm ground. Musselburgh is likely to be good to soft by the time we reach this race. Searchlight and Innocently mightn’t like that either.

That leaves Noble Asset (in 7) as best of the draw. This is his time of year: he won the Ayrshire Cup after scoring at Musselburgh early last September.

Four of his last five starts have been a grade or two higher in class 2 (not disgraced at Goodwood) and class 3 (within two lengths of the winner the last twice). On that evidence, he’s a Hidden Horse and I took 10.5 offers on BETDAQ.

KEMPTON The bridesmaids Landwade Lad and Soluble – nine times second or third between them from 11 starts – should set this up for a Kempton hat-trick by Cloud Seven. He had recent dual winner, Molten Lave, well behind in the Spring.

DAQMAN’S BETS (staked 1 to 9 for strength; 10 would be a banker)
HIDDEN HORSE: BET 2pts win and place NOBLE ASSET (3.00 Musselburgh)
BET 4pts win PLANE SONG (4.40 Catterick)
BET 7pts win (nap) CLOUD SEVEN (8.25 Kempton)
DAQ MULTIPLES: 3 x 1pt win doubles and 1pt win treble the three above.
