EMMET RYAN is just waiting on Everton tonight for another profitable weekend after Man United scored on Saturday. Although his other weekend selection was Draw/Arsenal in the Half-Time/Full-Time, he could still show a nice profit once more.  His midweek column goes through the Capital One Cup games which take centre stage for the next two days.

After a wild weekend in the EPL, it’s back to Capital One Cup action for bettors. Who goes through? Who crashes out? And where is the value?

It simply has to be Liverpool’s trip to Bournemouth that gets the lion’s share of attention from bettors. After a thrashing in Old Trafford and an exit from the Champions League, it’s been an awful week or so for Liverpool and the early money is far from confident of their chances away to Bournemouth. It’s reasonable to assume Brendan Rodgers won’t go all out in this competition and that fielding his absolute best line-up on Wednesday isn’t likely. That being said, look at the reality of the situation.

Brendan Rodgers is fighting for his job and Liverpool are in desperate need of a morale boost. Bournemouth are a clearly inferior opponent and one Liverpool could really do with beating. Will Liverpool look nervous early? Almost certainly. Will Liverpool, if they treat is as a game they have to win, get the result in 90 minutes? Even more so. This is a Championship club looking for a big shock and it is naturally being painted as a danger game for Liverpool. The shocks you just feel you see coming are rarely the ones that actually materialise. Chill out, bet with your head, and take Liverpool at 2.06

Tottenham and Newcastle clash in the only all EPL clash of the round. It promises to be a pretty tasty one too as both sides know this competition presents their best shot at silverware this season. Newcastle may have taken a beating on Saturday evening but they remain a solid side capable of getting a result. Spurs however have stopped being typical Tottenham of late, finding ways to win games they look certain to throw away. The favourites tag may not sit well with Spurs but I like them at 1.88 to get the job done in 90 minutes.

Finally, Chelsea’s quest to win absolutely everything continues at Pride Park on Tuesday against Derby County. Jose Mourinho’s charges are well placed on all fronts and can afford to take this clash with the utmost sincerity. That’s bad news for a Derby team which was surely hoping for the EPL title favourites to take a step back for the Capital One Cup. Don’t expect Chelsea to lay waste to the home side but a convincing win is still the most likely result. Derby have pluck, Chelsea have the Special One. Take Chelsea/Chelsea at 2.28 on the Half-time/Full-time for the best value.
