EMMET RYAN started out his new column on Betdaqtips in great style and almost made it an incredibly profitable one giving 6 out 8 winners on his opening Football Eightfold, only Belgium and Ireland let him down on what could have been a massive start. He know looks ahead to this week’s International Friendlies after a hectic weekend with Euro 16 Qualifiers.

After the intensity of the weekend’s Euro 2016 qualifiers, it’s time for teams to loosen up a touch and deliver bettors some big time value in international friendlies.

Scotland take on England in the oldest rivalriy in the game and Roy Hodgson’s side will, for once, be under pressure to impress in a non-competitive game. The England manager had to rally his troops on Saturday before eventually delivering a win over Slovenia. Every story involvec words like ‘concerning’ and ‘lacklustre’. Fortunately for bettors, this has eased some of the patriotic heat that usually comes with England in the market. England are slightly better than even money at 2.12.

Scotland by contrast have come in a touch because of Friday’s win over the Republic of Ireland. Even with the passion behind this rivalry, it’s hard to see Scotland going into this game with the same pressure. That will ease off and could hurt them early. That puts the Half-time/Full-time market squarely in play. England/England is my favourite bet on the board here at 3.7 but don’t sniff at the good value on offer for England/Draw at 16.

In terms of in-play betting, you really want England to score first. That’s going to have the most dramatic shift on the market and the opportunity to move around with Scotland after that will be appealing.

After their loss to Scotland last Friday, Martin O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland team faces the USA. The Americans always, and I mean always, take friendlies seriously. The lack of high level competitive games for them compared to European nations means Jurgen Klinsmann has to go all-in. That makes this dangerous outfit particularly appealing on Tuesday.

At 3.05 they are decent value but the real money will be found during in-play betting. This game is almost set up for the Irish to score first and the USA to rally, the tone of both teams plays nicely into it and the USA or the draw will both be more appealing after the first goal is scored.

Finally, it would be criminal for this column to ignore the clash of the teams that have won everything there is to win since 2008. Spain and Germany meet in a game where the Spanish have far more reason to care. Germany may still be well short of World Cup winning form but they are still only a few months removed from winning the biggest prize in sport. Spain, well they could do with a morale boost and at 2.16 I like them to get it done.
