EUROPA LEAGUE FINAL: We preview Wednesday’s Europa League final between AJAX v MANCHESTER UNITED with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

7.45pm After Manchester United failed to secure a top four finish this season, all eyes will be on the Europa League final in England on Wednesday night! The Europa League was always the disliked cousin of the Champions League, however since they have introduced a Champions League spot for the winner – teams have taken it a lot more seriously, and it’s a huge night for Jose Mourinho and his men after they decided not to battle for a top four spot towards the end of the Premier League season.
United are odds on favourites, with the match odds market trading; Ajax 5.1, Manchester United 1.89 and the draw 3.6 at the time of writing. Ajax got past Lyon in the semi-final with a 5-4 aggregate win, but don’t let you think that they are full of goals – before that tie, seven of their eight Europa League games had under 2.5 goals. You’d have to think that under 2.5 goals will be a very popular bet here, especially looking at United’s goal scoring record this season too, and the way Jose Mourinho is likely to set up his team. It definitely looks value at 1.73, and it’s hard to find a better value bet for the final.
United will no doubt have a lot of backers at around the 1.89 mark, they’re unbeaten in their last ten Europa League games, winning six of those. However, all their knockout games have been tight so it’s hard to expect anything different here. All seven of their previous games leading to here have ended 1-0 or 1-1 – and four of their last six have finished 1-1 after 90 minutes. We couldn’t put anyone off the draw at 3.6 for this reason, in a game that is probably going to start very cagey.
It’s hard to see Ajax winning, unless United perform a bit below their standards – United had plenty of rest leading into the final too with Jose Mourinho resting players for the last few weeks. While Ajax have lost three of their last six in all competitions, and they had to battle in the Eredivisie. We feel that United definitely have the edge here, however we simply cannot get away from under 2.5 goals at 1.73.
