EUROPA LEAGUE THURSDAY: We preview Thursday’s game between TOTTENHAM v GENT at Wembley (kick off 8.05pm) with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

TOTTENHAM V GENT

8.05pm After Gent won the first leg 1-0 last week, this becomes a huge match for Spurs under the Wembley lights on Thursday night. As we noted in our betting preview last week, a tough night was expected for Spurs given how solid Gent have been at home this season, however to lose was still unexpected. The markets certainly believe that Spurs won’t lose this one though, with them currently trading 1.35, while Gent are 11.5 with the draw at 5.7.

Gent currently sit down in 8th position in the Belgian league, and that is purely because of their away form. They have been woeful away from home, with only one win coming in their 14 games – while they’ve only scored 11 times in these games too. An away goal would be a massive boost for their chances of going through tonight, but we don’t see it coming given how they play on their travels.

It’s almost the complete opposite situation to last week, Gent are solid at home and we’re able to get the job done. But away from home for them is a totally different story, and we expect Spurs to win easily here. They haven’t had a good time of things in Europe yet this season, but this is a prime opportunity to get an impressive home win and set them up for the rest of the Europa League.

It is tempting to back Any Other Home Win (Spurs to score 4 or more and win) at around the 5.6 mark, however given that they are behind heading into this tie – they could start a little cagey. With Gent’s away form and the difference in class though, Spurs should soon click into gear and the 2.08 on them -1.5 goals appeals a lot.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Tottenham -1.5 goals to beat Gent at 2.08.
