PREVIEW

Osasuna have a mountain to climb if they are to reach the quarter-finals of the Cop Del Rey after being hammered 4-0 at the Nou Camp in the opening leg. Tonight’s hosts are having a great season and after 17 league games they are fifth in the table, but they’ll need a small miracle to go any further in this competition.

The game at the start of January was the fifth consecutive occasion that Osasuna have failed to score against Barca and things haven’t exactly been much better at the other end. In those five matches Barca have scored 19 times and the league game finished 8-0 earlier in the season.

With Barca slipping up at Espanyol after the Christmas break, Pep Guardiola’s side are now five points behind the league leaders. It’s imperative that Barca don’t concede further ground to Real Madrid, so the manager will likely opt to rotate his squad and give some of the fringe players a run out.

Guardiola will have been disappointed with his side’s recent away form, which has not been at their usual high standards. Even with the 1-1 draw at Espanyol, Barca have still only lost only once away from home in the league all season.

Competition for places in Guardiola’s starting XI is such that the fringe players will give everything tonight and I cannot see anything other than another comfortable victory for the Catalans at 1.4 on BETDAQ.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back Barca at around 1.4: 6 points|

Wednesday’s Return: -4
