Crystal Palace v Man U
FA Cup Final 5-30

Louis Van Gaal has come out midweek and said that winning the FA Cup is more important than finishing fourth, over recent years the Cup has lost some of it’s magic and not many will agree with him that it’s more important than Champions League football for a club as big as Manchester United, nonetheless they are in the final now and will want to pick up the trophy – Van Gaal will almost certainly be sacked if they don’t.

The current odds in the 90 minute market are: Palace 5.3, United 1.84 and the draw is 3.65, while in the ‘To lift the trophy’ market it’s Palace 3.5 and United 1.39.

It’s hard to weigh up what sort of form Crystal Palace are in coming into this, they managed just two wins in the league in 2016, but their focus switched to the FA Cup where they have done well obviously, oddly enough they have won four of their five FA Cup games against Premier League opposition beating Southampton, Stoke, Spurs and Watford but lost 12 of 19 in the league during that.

United meanwhile had a far easier passage to the final only needing to beat Premier League opposition twice, they did need a replay to get past West Ham though but they had a wonderful season this year, and they arrive into the final in good form – having won six of their last eight in all competitions – while they have beaten Crystal Palace five of the last six times they’ve faced each other, the other being a 0-0 draw.

Five of those six meetings also had under 2.5 goals, which is currently trading around the 1.73 mark and looks a shade of value in what could be a cagey affair – it’s hard to see Crystal Palace “going for it” from the start, and with the way Louis Van Gaal has been setting up United this season, we could be in for a boring first half before the game opens up later on. 0-0 at full-time is currently around the 10.0 mark and could be worth a bet for a trade.
