CALLING THE POLICE AT CLONMEL: Shamrock sides with the Willie Mullins trained Call The Police at Clonmel this afternoon, trading around evens on BETDAQ.

At the time, I wasn’t that impressed by Call The Police at Thurles last time out when he made hard work of landing odds of 2/7 to beat Foildubh by half a length.

However, given that Foildubh has since run a very creditable second to Sizing Europe in last weekend’s Tied Cottage Stakes (a grade 2) at Punchestown I’m inclined to back Call The Police again today in the Derrygrath Chase at 3.40.

There is precious little to choose between the entire field on official ratings but his rivals today are mainly out of form and Call The Police can land this en route to the Cheltenham Festival where he finished an excellent third to Bobs Worth in the RSA Chase last season.

Another Willie Mullins trained runner, Inish Island, looks a little short in the featured Surehaul Mercedes-Benz Novice Hurdle (Grade 3) at 2.35.

He had a tough race when last seen out at Cheltenham and might be found out at graded level.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Call The Police (3.40 Clonmel)
LAY: Inish Island (2.35 Clonmel)
