LEOPARDSTOWN NAP: SHAMROCK’s nap runs in the 6.35 at Leopardstown tonight on the card that features Order Of St George running in the Saval Beg Stakes at 7.05pm.

Major Destination proved worth the wait on Wednesday winning the closing bumper at 9/10 to land the NAP and only bet of the day.

Evening card from Down Royal (jumps) and Leopardstown tonight where the feature race is the Seamus & Rosemary McGrath Memorial Saval Beg Stakes at 7.05pm in which Aidan O’Brien’s star stayer Order Of St George bids to follow-up his success in the race last season.

He was a 2/7 shot last year and will be priced at similar cramped odds tonight as he attempts to emulate his stellar 2016 season when he went on to win the Ascot Gold Cup before getting turned over at odds-on in the Long Distance Cup on Champions Day.

He was also a beaten odds-on favourite on his seasonal reappearance at Navan when only second to Torcedor in the Vintage Crop Stakes but that run should have put him spot on for tonight in a race where he has plenty in hand on official ratings.

At better odds, for the nap, I am keen on the chance of Nigg Bay in the one mile maiden at 6.35pm.

The John Oxx trained Exceed and Excel colt finished third at Killarney on debut to Muzbid and should improve significantly for that run.

There’s obviously the risk that he will run into an above average debutant but I fancy him to have the measure of Auckland who looks a little short in the market and was beaten in a Killarney handicap last time out.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Nigg Bay (6.35 Leopardstown)
