FINAL FLING: It’s already been a great week for Irish trained runners at the Festival. Shamrock expects no let up on the final day and his nap runs in the opener at 1.30.

Really tough day on the tipping front yesterday, Hopefully we can finish the meeting in style today.

1:30 JCB Triumph Hurdle (Juvenile Grade 1) (4yo, Class 1, 2m 1f, 17 runners) The BETDAQ market is dominated by three runners, the unbeaten pair Our Conor and Rolling Star and Far West who is unbeaten in four starts this season. Our Conor, trained by Dessie Hughes, is an admirable performer whose form this season has worked out well and any rain ahead of the first race will boost his chances further.

SELECTION: Our Conor (NAP, WIN)

2:05 Vincent O’Brien County Handicap Hurdle (Grade 3) (5yo+, Class 1, 2m 1f, 28 runners) A hugely competitive renewal with a strong Irish challenge. The Tony Martin trained Ted Veale looks of interest towards the bottom end of the weights. He ran well on his handicap debut behind Abbey Lane on his handicap debut at Leopardstown and I can see him turning that form around as Abbey Lane is reappearing after disappointing in the Coral Cup on Wednesday.

SELECTION: Ted Veale (WIN and PLACE)

2:40 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle (Registered As The Spa Novices’ Hurdle) (Grade 1) (4yo+, Class 1, 3m, 14 runners) Ballycasey is a non runner which makes this a lot tougher for the Irish to win. Our Vinnie was well beaten by Pont Alexandra last time out but if you forgive that run he has sound chances of a place here.

SELECTION: Our Vinnie (PLACE)

3:20 Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase (Grade 1) (5yo+, Class 1, 3m 2f 110y, 9 runners) With Bog Warrior running yesterday Sir Des Champs is the sole raider in the Blue Riband event of the week. Tony McCoy is oboard after the injury to Davy Russell and last season’s Jewson winner should be primed to the minute by trainer Willie Mullins. He was fourth in the Lexus but bounced back to beat Flemenstar in the Hennessy and in a wide open renewal on paper has a solid chance.

SELECTION: Sir Des Champs (WIN)

4:00 CGA Foxhunter Chase Challenge Cup (5yo+, Class 2, 3m 2f 110y, 23 runners) My colleague DAQMAN has napped Salsify who clearly looks to have a great chance of scoring a repeat win in the race and arrives in good form this season. Backstage is a better price for a place than Salsify is for the win and my preferred betting angle into the race.

SELECTION: Backstage (PLACE)

4:40 Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle (4yo+, Class 2, 2m 4f 110y, 24 runners) The Willie Mullins trained Make Your Mark is capable of further improvement and can go close here. He is a likely front runner.

SELECTION: Mark Your Mark (WIN and PLACE)

5:15 Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase Challenge Cup (Grade 3 Handicap) (5yo+, Class 1, 2m 110y, 24 runners) Just the two Irish trained runners but they dominate the market! Benefficient is set to run again after his Jewson success yesterday and Alderwood comes here in good form. I’m place betting them both for the Irish to end the week in style.

SELECTIONS: Benefficient and Alderwood (PLACE BET both)
