NEW WEEK STARTS AT BALLINROBE: SHAMROCK starts his new tipping week by looking at the mixed card at Ballinrobe tonight. The card starts at 5.35 on expected good ground.

The opening long distance maiden looks a race to steer clear of from a betting angle. Although as a ‘neutral’ I will be cheering on the 10-year-old Benash for a first flat win.

The defection of the Dessie Hughes trained Mordanmijobsworth has seen the 6.35 reduced to just five runners and the race could now be at the mercy of Pretty Angel. She put in a good effort over seven furlongs at Fairyhouse last time out to finish third to Muscle Beach and should be seen to even better effect over this longer trip. She has been tried previously over a mile at Limerick but that was in a much tougher event than today.

This race also sees the seasonal reappearance of Fit The Cove who is now a 14-year-old but usually needs soft in the going description to show his best form.

The maiden hurdle at 7.35 looks a match on paper between She’s A Leader and Annagh Haven who both finished second last time out.

I prefer She’s A Leader who was runner-up to Time For A Pint at Fairyhouse on the same ground she will face tonight.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Pretty Angel (6.35 Ballinrobe)
NEXT BEST: She’s A Leader (7.35 Ballinrobe)
