LISTED ACTION AT GALWAY: The Oyster Stakes for fillies is the big race on tonight’s card at Galway.

A fair run from yesterday’s NAP Thomas O’Malley who finished second at 6/1 behind the Mick Halford trained debutant Ambassadorial.

On tonight’s Galway card Almela should prove mighty hard to beat in the featured Oyster Stakes at 6.35pm.

The Dermot Weld trained filly has only had four career starts including this race last year when she finished a head second to stable companion Zhukova.

It doesn’t look such a tough renewal this year and she ran a good race last month at Leopardstown when runner-up to Stellar Mass in a Group 3.

Of the three-year-olds in the race, preference is for How High The Moon who showed improved form when third in the Naas Oaks Trial, a Listed race, last time out.

  • Sligo’s flat meeting on Wednesday will be subject to an 8am inspection tomorrow. 31 millimetres of rain have fallen since Saturday and the course is currently unfit for racing.
