ROOTING FOR FRUITY: SHAMROCK’s NAP runs in the opener at Kilbeggan tonight.

The taps have been on at Kilbeggan where the course stage a seven race card tonight on expected good to firm ground.

Given the fast ground, the fields have held up well and the best bet on the card comes in the 16 runner opener.

Rock On Fruity is my first nap of the week. The Charles Byrnes trained six-year-old races over the minimum jumps trip for the first time in his career which could well bring about a first win for this strong traveller.

He finished third to Gangster at Roscommon last time out over 2m 4f 110 yards in another big field event.

This race looks at his mercy and doesn’t appear to have much strength in terms of rivals.

Biggest threat is probably the Gordon Elliott trained Credulous who was fourth to Time For Bucks in what looked a modest maiden hurdle at Tramore last month. The winner was beaten next time out and My Matador, who finished a length and three quarters behind Credulous, was last of six finishers subsequently at Wexford.
