BLANK DAY ON MONDAY: No Irish racing on Monday so SHAMROCK looks back on the featured races from Tipperary on Sunday.

It didn’t quite go to plan yesterday at Tipperary despite me picking three winners out of four (well kind of) !!

The first pick, Tested, was first past the post in the Group 3 Concorde Stakes but demoted to second after a stewards enquiry. Sole British raider Sovereign Debt was promoted to first and after the race winning trainer David Nicholls said: “I’ll speak to (owner) Lady O’Reilly and see what she wants to do. The fast ground at Dubai might probably break him – we like the Irish air!”

Sovereign Debt was due to be partnered by Kieren Fallon but he failed to make it to the track on time and was replaced by Declan McDonogh. Nicholls added: “He got stuck on the boat coming over due to an electrical fault. He’s in Ireland but got delayed coming here.”

Aidan O’Brien, successful with Ballydoyle (DAQMAN’s NAP) at Longchamp, struck in the Istabraq Hurdle with Plinth. Unfortunately my nap, Thomas Edison, ran flat and found disappointingly little in the closing stages.

Bachasson remains an exciting prospect and is now four from four since joining Willie Mullins from France. He is now prominent in ante-post lists for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival after sprinting clear from the final hurdle to win the Dolores Purcell Memorial Novice Hurdle.

I ended the day with a 5/2 winner with The Game Changer who won his second Grade 3 chase in just three days when beating Rule The World in the Like A Butterfly Novice Chase. It was a 1-2 for Gigginstown.

More racing from Tipperary on Tuesday when they stage a jumps card starting at 2.25. Bets will be advised tomorrow and a reminder to NUDGE UP your price on BETDAQ to pay just 2% COMMISSION.
