HEAVY GROUND SPECIALIST REQUIRED: SHAMROCK looks at the Kilbegnet Novice Chase at Roscommon this afternoon where the emphasis will be on the ground in this Grade 3 race.

Heavy ground forecast at Roscommon this afternoon and the best race on the card is the six runner Kilbegnet Novice Chase at 3.55pm.

Whilst small in terms of runners, it’s attracted a decent field in terms of class and it might be worth giving the Joseph O’Brien trained Landofhopeandglory another chance.

Rated 142 over hurdles he finished fifth in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham earlier in the year and shaped well enough on his chasing debut here over course and distance when fourth to Townshend.

He then won a novice chase at Kilbeggan on soft ground and was still very much in contention before falling at Galway two out in a Grade 3 chase last time out won by Rathvinden.

He is preferred to Montana Belle who looks a little short in the market. He was a very easy winner at Galway last time out but it was only a beginners chase and Landofhopeandglory had a bit more class over hurdles than this one.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Landofhopeandglory (3.55 Roscommon)
