BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY ACTION FROM CORK and NAAS: Shamrock naps one at Naas on a Bank Holiday Monday in Ireland.

Mouteab shaped well on debut when second to Theatre at Leopardstown but was beaten a fair way and there is scope to oppose the market leader in the opener at Naas. There are two debutants from Aidan O’Brien’s yard and a whole bunch of lightly raced runners who can improve. The call has to be to lay Mouteab here.

A big field goes to post for the concluding maiden at 5.50 including several runners who have had plenty of chances.

Dermot Weld’s Harbour Side made an encouraging enough debut over course and distance when sixth in an 18 runner maiden won by Suzette De Bavay. With the Weld runners in such a rich vein of form and guaranteed improvement for her first start, Harbour Side could easily be good enough to take this. Despite the big field it’s not a race that’s deep on quality.

Only three runners go to post for the 3.20 and Lighnin Hopkins looks best.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Harbour Side (5.50 Naas)
LAY: Mouteab (2.20 Naas)
