TREACLE VALUE FROM RACE THAT COULD LAND A NATIONAL DOUBLE: Shamrock takes 25.0 Treacle in a Betdaq flutter on the Liverpool Grand National which is tied in to Monday’s Irish version at Fairyhouse.

The one-two in one Irish race could provide two National winners. Treacle at 25.0 on BETDAQ is one of those that gives Ireland a big say in the Aintree Grand National next Saturday.

There would immediately be a ‘wanted’ poster pasted up for Treacle if Cross Appeal were to win Monday’s Irish version at Fairyhouse.

Tom Taaffe’s Treacle was the ‘moral’, giving weight but beaten less than a length, when Cross Appeal landed the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas.

Now Cross Appeal has been made one of the favourites on Monday and, in the new circumstances, you’ve no option but to grab the 25.0 Treacle for Aintree on BETDAQ, particularly alongside Corals’ measly 12-1.

I want to go into the big week with a couple of winning naps. I’m pretty confident of one at Cork on Saturday, and I’ll rely on Davy Russell’s charge to the jockeys’ title to pull one off on Thursday.

Prince Ludovic (4.25) has placed a couple of times but is reckoned nailed on, now that the ground has changed.

Quick ground also favours Davy’s mount, Resolute Bay (6.25), so my staking today will be to bet that one of them wins. But I can’t resist a little double as Russell is riding out of his skin in the bid to beat Ruby Walsh.

It would be just my luck if, instead, Davy won on An Dearthair Og (4.55) in an open-looking maiden hurdle (4.55), so I shall have a saver on that one to cover the other bets.

SHAMROCK’S BETS
DAQ DOUBLE: Win on each and win double Prince Ludovic (4.25 Clonmel, nap) and Resolute Bay (6.25 Clonmel). Saver: An Dearthair Og (4.55 Clonmel)
ANTE-POST: Treacle (25.0, Liverpool Grand National); already ante-post Seabass (41.0 same race)
