JACKPOT: SHAMROCK’S 7-1 BIG-RACE WIN AT 16.0 ON BETDAQ: Shamrock dismissed the favourites in yesterday’s big race at Leopardstown. He had just the one bet because he couldn’t see why they were in front of the 16.0 offer, Cross Appeal. Result: a wholesale gamble on Cross Appeal (WON 7-1) and a game victory.

LIMERICK NAP AND DOUBLE: Finding Leopardstown’s Lexus meeting a choice between two short priced horses nearly every time, Shamrock goes for his nap and next best at Limerick, trusting Paul Carberry with his money again.

It’s all about class at Limerick today. And my jockey of the moment Paul Carberry (thanks for that ride on Cross Appeal, by the way) has Definite Class.

While the big stuff is happening at Leopardstown, where hot races are all debatable, Paul has a couple of quality rides in the cloudy city, which make up my nap and double.

Heavy ground at Limerick will suit Please Talk (1.15) and trainer Noel Meade has a current-form edge over Michael Hourigan, who saddles Best Served Cold as a yard without a win for almost three weeks.

Though Best Served Cold has already scored over 3m, the step up in trip will suit Please Talk, a strapping son of Beneficial.

Definite Class (3.20) looked poised for a race like this but Dessie Hughes decided to see how he’d get on in a Graded race half a mile further at Clonmel.

Despite being a 16-1 shot, things seemed to be going his way; he was left second two out and was only a length in arrears when he was hampered and brought down after the last.

The return to shorter, and the drop in class, should see Definite Class take care of a seemingly modest bunch, with only Shane Rock backed against him.

Shane Rock’s money is on account of his third to Blackstairmountain but he’s on a long losing run and seems to be a horse without a trip, having been in the frame over 2m 1f, 2m 2f and 2m 4f, without having the pace to win more than place money.

Leopardstown: Davy Russell will be the third jockey up on Make Your Mark (12.25), seeking his hat-trick today in his first hurdle, having won a Point and a bumper.

The big races could, all three, be pinstickers between two horses; thankfully those you choose from in each race are youngsters who should increase our hand at Cheltenham.

I’m going to forgive First Lieutenant (1.25) his last run, take Voler La Vedette (2.00) to land the hat-trick and Quito De La Roque (2.35) the double hat-trick, though I shall be watching the performance of Magnanimity, an old favourite last season who ran up to Bostons Angel in a Grade 1. May need his first run back.
