SHAMROCK STILL TRYING TO COME TO TERMS WITH NAVAN RESULTS: It all looked so easy beforehand but Navan’s card yesterday turned into a punting nightmare in the four Graded races.

I’m still a bit shell-shocked after the Navan results yesterday and I guess I’m not alone.

After the 8/15 favourite was beaten in the opener Chicago Grey’s 25/1 success in the four runner Red Mills Chase continued the order of the day of shocks and disappointments. Most notable flop was Thousand Stars who trailed home last at 1/2 in the Ladbrokes Boynes Hurdle.

I thought I’d cracked it with the nap Twinlight who made the running before being collared on the line to deny us a 9/4 nap by a head.

Hopefully Punchestown today will prove more fathomable.

Irish point winner Foxrock didn’t get further than the first on his debut under Rules when unseating Ruby Walsh at Leopardstown but was hampered on that occasion.

He fared much better on his return to the track last month when second to Mala Beach and should be hard to beat this afternoon over a longer trip which should suit.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Foxrock (2.05 Punchestown)
