BID FOR ANOTHER PERFECT WEEKEND: SHAMROCK had a winning NAP on both Saturday and Sunday last weekend and bids for more success this weekend starting with the big races at Fairyhouse on Saturday.

My nap on Friday, Cutting Corners was 2nd at 11/2 but never threatened to win as the well backed favourite stormed home.

All eyes on Fairyhouse today and their eight race card but the field sizes are small for the two feature races.

1:05 Bambury Bookmakers Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 2) (4yo, Class 1, 2m, 3 runners)

This is a pretty shocking turnout for a Grade 2 with over €27,000 to the winner – but despite being just three runners it’s not the easiest start for punters to solve. Vercingetorix is the favourite but surely hard to back with confidence having been beaten 43 lengths last time out in the Spring Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 1) at Leopardstown. Lettre De Cachet finished one place in front of him that day, on his debut, and I give him the nod to do so again.

2:05 At The Races Bobbyjo Chase (Grade 2) (5yo+, Class 1, 3m 1f, 5 runners)

With the exception of Kennoway any of the remaining four can be given a chance. Preference is for Roi Du Mee who romped to victory in a Listed chase at Tramore last time and was also the winner of this race in 2013. He should again relish the testing conditions.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Lettre De Cachet(1.05 Fairyhouse)
NEXT BEST: Roi Du Mee (2.05 Fairyhouse)
