QUIET WEEKEND AHEAD OF GALWAY: It’s the quietest weekend of the year in Ireland with only Wexford racing today and no racing tomorrow. The calm before the Galway storm.

Everyone needs a break now and then.

In an era with the focus more on quantity of racing rather then quality it’s almost a welcome relief to have just one meeting this weekend.

Saturday’s have become too congested IMO when you combine UK and Irish racing. Punters need breathing space and also time to digest – previous results, state of the ground, trainers running in / out of form etc.

Remember the old days when there was only ever a maximum of two afternoon meetings midweek ? Was your punting better or worse then?

It’s all about Wexford today ahead of the Galway Festival which starts on Monday.

I thought the best bet on the flat card was Celestial Fable from Tommy Stack’s yard in the opener.

She was only beaten a half length and a neck behind Blackstone in what looked a relatively hot maiden at Killarney last time out. She was a big price that day on her first try over faster ground and should get off the mark here.

NAP Celestial Fable (2.15 Wexford)
