TWO FROM THREE FROM SHAMROCK: Profitable day for SHAMROCK on Saturday with BROOCH (NAP) WON 8/11 and his recommended place bet ENDLESS DRAMA finishing second in the 2000 Guineas at 9/1.

Delighted with the run of Endless Drama yesterday who landed the BETDAQ place bet (at odds of 3.7 at the time of publication) in the Irish 2000 Guineas. There was more good news to come later with the success of the nap Brooch in the Lanwades Stud Stakes.

Three Group races in a row on 1000 Guineas Day at the Curragh on Sunday.

2:45 Airlie Stud Gallinule Stakes (Group 3) (3yo, Class 1, 1m 2f, 7 runners)

Aidan O’Brien has an incredible record in this race (9 winners from last 11) so on that stat alone it’s hard to get away from his representative this year, Giovanni Canaletto, who was a beaten odds-on favourite on debut but then stormed home to win his Leopardstown maiden by six and a half lengths. The penny appeared to drop in style. He has to be the pick despite looking a little short in the market but with just seven runners the race doesn’t make much appeal in place only terms.

3:20 Tattersalls Gold Cup (Group 1) (4yo+, Class 1, 1m 2f 110y, 6 runners)

After Al Kazeem in 2013 and Noble Mission last year it’s long odds-on another British winner this year coupling The Grey Gatsby, Postponed and Al Kazeem who’s back for another crack. It looks a great race in prospect but preference for me has to go to The Grey Gatsby who had Al Kazeem well beaten when winning the Irish Champion Stakes last season. He has since finished second in Meydan. The only caveat would be rain – and he wouldn’t want too much. Trainer Kevin Ryan said: “I wouldn’t even worry about good to soft. What he doesn’t want is very soft ground.”

3:55 Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas (Fillies Group 1) (3yo, Class 1, 1m, 18 runners)

This looks a really wide open renewal and cases can be made for so many. I’m taking a chance with the one with least experience but hopefully greatest potential. I was really taken by Joailliere who stormed home on debut at Gowran Park, winning impressively by seven lengths. Trainer Dermot Weld won this in 2010 with a lightly raced filly Bethrah and whilst it’s impossible to be certain about how much improvement Joailliere can find – she is certainly in good hands and I am playing on the win and place market on BETDAQ.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: The Grey Gatsby (3.20 Curragh)
NEXT BEST: Giovanni Canaletto (2.45 Curragh)
WIN AND PLACE: Joailliere (3.55 Curragh)
