SAVING THE BEST UNTIL LAST: SHAMROCK ended Royal Ascot with an 11/4 WINNING NAP in the final race on the final day. PIQUE SOUS (NAP) WON 11/4 won for Willie Mullins and Ryan Moore.

It was a big relief to finish Royal Ascot with a nice winning nap. It was worth the wait for the last race of the meeting, the Queen Alexandra Stakes, and a win for the Willie Mullins trained Pique Sous at a nice 11/4.

Wednesday was my best day – with four winning bets from five.

Irish honours of the week must go to Eddie Lynam for training both of the big sprint race winners of the week with Sole Power and Slade Power.

There were two winners on the week but a frustrating six seconds for Aidan O’Brien. Highlight obviously being the Gold Cup success of Leading Light.

Back to relative normality on Sunday and the Irish racing comes from Gowran Park where they race on good to firm ground.

Trainer Ger Lyons had a couple of winners at Down Royal yesterday and also saw a good run from his Cappella Sansevero, second in the Coventry Stakes, at Royal Ascot on Tuesday.

He can strike in the opener with his filly Adroit who, although no match for the long odds on Photo Call on debut at Fairyhouse, still shaped with plenty of promise in second place and it also came on the same ground as today.

She should improve sufficiently to account for Zaindera who is proving hard to win with and has been tried at a variety of distances.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Adroit (2.15 Gowran Park)
