GROUP AND GRADED ACTION: Excellent Sunday mixed card at Tipperary. SHAMROCK looks ahead to the Istabraq Hurdle at 3.25pm.

Chantilly and Tipperary have two things in common today. Excellent day of racing and testing ground.

It’s a day of mixed racing at Tipperary with Group and Graded action on both codes.

In the Grade 3 Istabraq Hurdle it’s not surprising to see JP McManus launch a strong attack on the race named after perhaps his most famous horse.

Just six go to post, including last year’s winner Ivan Grozny and the JP pair Jer’s Girl and Jezki.

The spoiler to that trio might well be the Willie Mullins trained Coquin Mans who is now unbeaten in four starts and Ruby Walsh is onboard in preference to stablemate Ivan Grozny.

She relished the heavy ground at Listowel last time out when winning on the flat having previously romped home by eight lengths in a Cork Hurdle.

It’s a big step up in class but that’s less of a question mark with the formidable record of trainer and jockey with these unexposed types.

I can’t find one to beat Enable in the Arc so Coquin Mans is the Sunday NAP. The Tipperary race is 20 minutes later and hopefully I’ve made the right call !!

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Coquin Mans (3.25pm)
