Venezia is my best bet of the day in the maiden hurdle at Wexford at 2.00.
Ruby Walsh is onboard for trainer Mick Halford. Twice a winner on the flat, Venezia has run with credit in both starts over hurdles. Although he was a beaten odds-on favourite at Punchestown last time out when third to Labalk – it was still a good effort in the context of today’s opposition.
Big danger is Slemish. The six-year-old has run well in both his starts over hurdles, particularly at Tramore last time out when second to Abbey Magic. He made the running that day and similar tactics could well be deployed here but he could prove vulnerable late on.
