THE EAGLE HAS LANDED: SHAMROCK continued his great run of naps when OPEN EAGLE (NAP) WON 5/4 landed his only bet on Wednesday to make it 14/21 WINNING NAPS (66%).

Open Eagle landed the nap yesterday in the opener at Fairyhouse at 5/4.

I’m not too sure whether I’ll be keen to support him in the future though. For a horse that was so good on the flat, his speed looked blunted and it was very much a workmanlike victory yesterday, despite him seemingly having his optimum conditions.

It’s now 14 WINNING NAPS FROM THE LAST 21 (66%) and 19 from 21 (90%) have finished in the first two!!!!

The naps form figures are now 111L11121211221211L11

It could well be another Willie Mullins bonanza day at Thurles this afternoon. He has several short priced favourites on the card.

The highlight is very much the reappearance of Sir Des Champs, after an absence of 691 days, in the Listed Boomerang Animal Bedding And Boomerang Horse & Country Store Chase at 12.55.

Owner Michael O’Leary suggested his career may have been over six months ago so it’s great that he’s back but surely a watching brief is in order today to see if he is anywhere near the horse he was in 2013 when he finished second to Bobs Worth in the Cheltenham Gold Cup before going on to win the Punchestown Gold Cup.

I apologise in advance for the price, but I can’t see defeat for Myska (Mullins/Walsh) in the mares maiden hurdle at 1.55. She won a bumper at Clonmel in grand style and looks a future star in the making.
