HEAVY GROUND AT CLONMEL: Irish racing resumes at Clonmel this afternoon with a seven race card on expected heavy ground.

Three short priced favourites in the opening three races on the Clonmel card today and it’s quite likely to prove Mullins 2 – Elliott 1.

My best bet on the card comes in the closing bumper at 5.05 with the Henry de Bromhead trained Arvico Bleu.

He has run two solid races over hurdles, finishing third on both occasions at Navan and Naas.

He has proved he can handle testing conditions and with the stable in such good form looks the nap on the card.

No surprise to see the dangers come from the Mullins and Elliott stables.

Iolani (Mullins) makes his debut but this will be a tough stamina test on the ground for the first foal of a winning miler.

Monkshood (Elliott) switches to a bumper after two reasonable efforts over hurdles but on balance the form shown by Arvico Bleu looks superior.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Arvico Bleu (5.05 Clonmel)
