9/4 WINNING NAP: SHAMROCK landed a 9/4 winning nap with Highland Reel at Royal Ascot on Wednesday in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes.

Aidan O’Brien turned around his Royal Ascot in a blink yesterday after a rare poor opening day.

Things picked up right from the opening Jersey Stakes when his Spirit of Valor ran an incredible race at 66/1 to be pipped a neck by the French trained favourite Le Brivido.

My nap yesterday was Highland Reel in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes and he proved just how tough and talented he is by digging in well inside the final furlong under Ryan Moore when, for my money, looking beaten.

A 9/4 winning NAP – and hopefully I can build on that today.

O’Brien saddles seven runners at Royal Ascot on Thursday including Order Of St George who I fully expect to record back to back wins in the Gold Cup at 4.20pm.

He stayed on strongly to beat Mizzou and Sheikhzayedroad last year when the going was soft.

It’s obviously vastly different today but like a lot of really top class horses the going doesn’t seem to be an issue with him.

It was good to firm at Leopardstown when he won the Saval Beg Stakes last time out and six of his eight career wins have come on good or better ground.

He has some way to go to match illustrious stablemate Yeats’s record in the race but he should prove too good for chief rival Big Orange who bolted up at Sandown last time out in the Group 3 Henry II Stakes. He’s a dual Goodwood Cup winner and worth remembering only 3lb inferior to Order Of St George on the official ratings so should make a real race of it.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Order Of St George (4.20 Royal Ascot)
