ROSCOMMON TUESDAY NAP: SHAMROCK looks ahead to the opener on tonight’s jumps card at Roscommon.

18 runners in the opening mares maiden hurdle at Roscommon tonight but it’s long odds-on that the winner is in the top three on the racecard.

The Birdie Crowe, High School Days and Law Girl dominate the BETDAQ market and it’s basically any price you like the remainder.

Law Girl was a little disappointing on debut at Listowel. She had shown form on the flat in France but could only finish fourth to Penny Jane on her first start for Willie Mullins.

High School Days was second in that race, 12 lengths in front of Law Girl and that’s a fair amount of ground for Law Girl to make up – even allowing for the likely improvement from first start to second.

The Birdie Crowe is a little more experienced but penalised for bumper wins at Punchestown and Galway.

She was a well beaten fifth in a Listed bumper at Fairyhouse last time but the better ground and significantly easier race will help her cause here.

The betting says:

1 Law Girl
2 High School Days
3 The Birdie Crowe

I think the absolute reverse with:

1 The Birdie Crowe
2 High School Days
3 Law Girl

NAP: The Birdie Crowe (5.55 Roscommon)
