SLIGO ON WEDNESDAY: SHAMROCK looks at the Sligo jumps card this evening and his best bet runs in the maiden hurdle at 6.00.

It really is the calm before the storm ahead of Guineas weekend at the Curragh.

Both Guineas races still need to be finalised entry wise so don’t forget to check out the BETDAQ markets later this week. 16 runners remain in the 2000 Guineas on Saturday headed by Kingman and 14 in Sunday’s 1000 Guineas.

The latest going, as tweeted by the course, this afternoon is:

Curragh ground is now Yielding following a good drying day on Monday and only 0.2mm rain overnight.

At Sligo today, Jimmy Two Times looks the best of a, frankly poor bunch, in the opening maiden hurdle.

He’s taken some time himself to show he has ability but there has been plenty of promise in his latest two starts.

He was a much improved 5th of 20 at Fairyhouse in February when he ran much better than his 100/1 price tag suggested he might and built on that promise last time out when second to the odds on Blow The Doors off in a big field.

This really does look an ideal opening for him.
