PETIT TO MAKE SMALL WORK OF RIVALS: All eyes on the eagerly awaited chasing debut of Petit Mouchoir at Punchestown this afternoon.

Top class hurdler Petit Mouchoir makes his chasing debut at Punchestown this afternoon in the beginners chase at 4.10pm and fingers crossed he shows as much class over the larger obstacles for trainer Henry de Bromhead.

The Gigginstown-owned grey started his career with Willie Mullins and made his mark immediately with an impressive win in a valuable bumper at Punchestown on debut.

He was switched to the de Bromhead stable last season and won the Irish Champion Hurdle before going on to finish third to Buveur D’air in the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

This is one of those races that there’s not much to be gained and at a lot to be lost so let’s hope for a smooth round.

The principal danger looks to be Brelade who wasn’t the same class as Petit Mouchoir over hurdles but does have the benefit of a pipe opener over fences at Gowran Park where he was no match for Tout Est Permis but finished well clear of the third.
