SOPHIE HAS THE WORLD AT HER FEET: SHAMROCK’S nap of the day runs at Punchestown tonight in the 8.00.
Sophie’s World looks set to gain her first win over hurdles in the Panoramic Restaurant Mares Maiden Hurdle at Punchestown tonight.
Despite a field size of 17, there doesn’t appear to be much strength in depth and surely a repetition of Sophie’s World’s latest effort when second to the odds-on shot Karalee at Killarney should prove easily good enough. She finished nicely clear of the third horse that day and conditions are similar tonight in terms of distance and ground.
She had also put in a recent good run on the flat when second to Aussie Valentine in a Leopardstown handicap.
Anna Holty is only modest but has shown a modicum of form and could prove to be a danger in a race which completely revolves around the favourite.
I was struggling for a bet elsewhere on the card but thought Argocat looked a little short in the Follow Punchestown On Facebook Chase at 6.30 but I’m not pressing the lay button on this one.
