Twice in a row now Chelsea have let me down in this column so let’s see if I can make it third time lucky when the Blues face Manchester City in the weekend’s big Premier League fixture.

What is more, they are undefeated on the road in the top flight, but Chelsea’s home record is decent, having taken 13 points from a possible 18.

They will also have had a day’s extra preparation for the contest, after playing Juventus on Tuesday and City facing Real Madrid on Wednesday in the Champions League.

Chelsea have also beaten City in the previous two seasons at the Bridge – 2-1 in 2011/12 and 2-0 in 2010/11 – so I’m hoping, for the purposes of this week’s charity bet, that they can make it three in a row.

Already four points behind City, it is a game that the hosts need to win, and my BETDAQ punt this time out is on Chelsea to win, at odds of 2.5.

However, I’m going to put £15 on that outcome and keep some of the stake back for the final Grand Prix of the Formula 1 season.

Sebastian Vettel has a 13-point lead over Fernando Alonso in the standings making the championship is his to lose.

As you would expect, the German is the short-priced favourite to win the title, at 1.23 on BETDAQ, but anything can happen at the Interlagos circuit in Brazil.

It brings the curtain down because it is one of the most exciting races, as we saw when Lewis Hamilton claimed the 2008 title there on almost the last corner.

Alonso has little option other than to go for the win and should he take the chequered flag, with Vettel outside the top four, then he will be world champion too.

Of course, this is a speculative bet – the Ferrari man has never won in Brazil either – but at odds of 5.0 on BETDAQ, it might just be worth the £10 I’m going to put on Alonso to snatch the drivers’ championship from his rival.
