TWO MORE IN THE DAQMAN CAUSE: Daqman’s winner-a-day week continued yesterday with two hits across the cards. Today he analyses Newbury and finds a strong nap worth stepping up the stakes for. Yesterday:

WON 3-1 CRIBBS CAUSEWAY (Salisbury)
WON 5-2 HAJAJ (Yarmouth)

70-UP BID AGAINST PRICEWISE: The Saturday king is back tomorrow with TEN meetings under the microscope in England, Ireland and France, and Pricewise under the Daqman hammer as our man defends a lead of 307 points, with 68-12 returns this Flat season. He wants to hit the 70 on Saturday.

JAWWAAL IS JUST GOING PLACES

1.40 Newbury Favourites are going for a six-timer here, but which one will start as the ‘jolly’ in this juveniles first division (1.40). Will it be the aptly named Camelot colt, Merlin Magic, or will Blue Laureate give Clive Cox his fifth winner in six days?

Like the leading pair, Ateem has also had a run, and Team Hannon has scored three times in this race in the last eight seasons.

Another Camelot, Arthenia, is the only one with a Group-1 target – has the Fillies’ Mile entry – and Ryan Moore is booked for the John Gosden runner, Purser. But Merlin Magic was the only one they wanted early mouse on BETDAQ.

2.10 Newbury The entries say that this is the stronger division, with four Group-1 targeted. But most significant must be John Gosden’s decision after the colt’s debut to enter Jawwaal in the Dewhurst. Has clearly done everything right (2.98 this morning).

Also entered up are He’s Amazing (had a run), the Zoffany grey Istanbul Sultan and Metatron’s Cube (‘source of all energy’), though Qaroon looks the most likely danger, also having had a run.

2.40 Newbury Yesterday we saw the three-year-olds gifted a race at Salisbury, won by Cribbs Causeway, when they received up to 27lb. In this one, the margin is much smaller. In fact, four-year-olds have won every year thus far, though look outnumbered.

Luca Cumani is leading trainer on the course, percentage wise, and we haven’t seen the best of Vanity Queen, back from a break after a false start to her second season. Betdaq offers of 10.5 at the time of writing. She was favourite on the last day, suggesting we should give her a chance at a generous offer.

MOORE’S MOUNT IS A MACHINE

3.10 Newbury Older horses never get a look-in here so there are four seemingly just making up the numbers. The market agreed this morning, offering all four at double-figure odds.

Three-year-olds do well, and two quick starts then a month off could have been the making of the Galileo colt Great Sound

The year-older New World Power was let down yesterday by his Brighton conqueror, Pacharana. But Machine Learner (3.3 in the BETDAQ orange this morning) may not be so easily disposed of. Ryan Moore has ridden him in both starts this year and stands by him.

He has to give 10lb to the three-year-old Great World but his form is rock solid. He didn’t get the breaks at Sandown when beaten by a much-better second-season animal, UAE King, who was receiving a stone that day and now races off 99 after winning the Brown Jack at Ascot. The third horse home at Sandown, Sternrubin, scored this week.

3.45 Newbury Five Group entered, including Group 1 for strong York winner One Minute, and the Queen Mary third, Out Of The Flames (disappointing since). But the Irish have good lines to the form.

Joseph O’Brien, who brings over Boragh Steps, had the fourth filly home in the Queen Mary, and Johnny Murtagh’s Sankari Royale last time out easily disposed of Treasuring, who was a couple of lengths further back at Ascot.

Johnny’s two-year-olds are striking at better than 25% in Ireland and Sankari Royale looks progressive enough to risk a pound at 9.8 on BETDAQ this morning.

4.50 Newbury Beshaayir, Hula Girl, Lamya and Two Weeks have Group entries, but I’m thinking it’s Frankie Dettori’s day, and The Mums, with two runs behind her and well drawn today, might be worth a bit each way at 10.0.

PRECISION STRIKE BY STOUTE

4.10 Nottingham (Colwick Cup) A progressive three-year-old appears thrown in here, getting up to 26lb from ordinary handicappers. Precision placing by Sir Michael Stoute.

4.40 Nottingham Indulged has already been beaten by a brace of three-year-olds at Goodwood. I’ll try the same trick as yesterday and cover two more against her here, Neshmeya and Al Mayda at 4.3 and 5.6 respectively on BETDAQ.
