9-2 NAP SCORES AS DAQMAN PUTS THREE FAVOURITES TO FLIGHT: Daqman opposed three morning favourites in three races yesterday; all three finished out of the frame for a 100% lay strike-rate: Crypto (13-8), Cristal Spirit (7-4), Brunel Charm (9-2). He landed the double whammy at Bangor when, in Crypto’s race, Flight Deck (WON 9-2 nap) was Daqman’s best bet of the day. That gave him 13.95 profit on the afternoon.

MULLINS MARE IN ENGLAND TO STRETCH CHELTENHAM RED TAPE: Willie Mullins will run a young mare in England tomorrow on a rare visit to the North of England which could provide a vital breakthrough of red tape for the Irish contingent to Cheltenham in March. Headlines:

🔹 GRANGEE TESTS BREXIT CHARADE
🔹 MABRE BIG AT 8.0 BETDAQ OFFERS
🔹 THE BETDAQ 8.2 TRULY MAJESTIC
🔹 McCAIN STREAK CAN CONTINUE

GRANGEE TESTS BREXIT CHARADE

Yes, she’s a Great Pretender. A little Willie Mullins mare called Grangee is on her way from Ireland to run at the North Lincolnshire town of Market Rasen tomorrow.

As six-lengths winner of a bumper at Galway in October, the pony-sized daughter of Great Pretender will be there ostensibly to test the feasibility of her running in the champion bumper at Cheltenham.

But, as the first Irish raider to England since Brexit, she will check out the VAT-and-vet charade, exacerbated by the lockdown restrictions, so that the mechanics of the usual Mullins assault on Cheltenham can be assessed.

VAT has to be paid (and returned) on the value of each horse, and vets either end will test her, alongside doctors checking her handlers and jockey.

Says Mullins: ‘The sums of money involved could be colossal for the Irish runners (181 last March), with VAT of 19% of the horse’s value. The money could take months to be refunded.’

English Jockey Club officials will check out Grangee’s journey from Dublin Port, ‘every page of every document’, to try to ‘negotiate a better mechanism for the festival.’

MABRE BIG AT 8.0 BETDAQ OFFERS

⭕ 2.40 Newcastle From 33 runners sent to Newcastle this season, Richard Hannon has had 17 in the frame, which is as near as you can get to 50% placed.

His four-year-old Cityzen Serg has piled a stone on his ratings with three wins from four starts since mid-November, all at Wolverhampton.

So, though he faces five CD winners at Newcastle, he should have no problem with the surface.

In fact, Imperial Command has also won on the course but that was not over the mile; he earned that distinction at Haydock Park. Both these successes were at class-5 level, so he has to step up.

I will oppose him for the form of Mabre, whose 8.0 offers looked big on BETDAQ this morning. He beat Spiorad and Jewel Maker here over the mile in December.

Spiorad was beaten only a neck in a featured class 3 over 7f here on Tuesday, while Jewel Maker won his very next race at Newcastle just after Christmas.

Anif loves Tapeta. He’s won three times at Wolverhampton and four at Newcastle but never this high in the handicap, and it’s worth a pound that Mabre can bounce back.

THE BETDAQ 8.2 TRULY MAJESTIC

⭕ 3.10 Newcastle Andrew Balding is missing strike badly. His Wednesday winner at Kempton was his only hit from 16 runners, a sequence which includes 3-3 losing favourites and seven placed without winning: 2223322

That tempers interest in Oo De Lally at a short price, with the horse back from a 100-day break and claimed off with this step up two grades for his first handicap.

I shall oppose him in favour of Majestic Tejaan for the Richard Fahey stable in form (five winners in a week) which has won this race two years out of three.

Falcon Brook will set him a fair pace, and Fahey knows all about Fayathaan, whom he sold in the autumn after winning with him here at Newcastle over a furlong shorter than today.

The 8.3 Majestic Tejaan was great value on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE this morning.

McCAIN STREAK CAN CONTINUE..

⭕ 7.30 Southwell Artistic Streak, who won for us here over 2m a week back, gets in here over shorter 4lb under the radar.

We rely on Ella McCain to stoke up the mare before the final bend and land Artistic Streak a hat-trick at Southwell for trainer-father Donald McCain.

McCain has had seven winners (from 17) this year, including a four-timer on New Year’s Day, and Artistic Streak had hardly a race when she came from behind and went 11 lengths clear on the last day.

Given a ride, she has no worries about Mr Carbonator, who should merely make the price for us (2.35 the Streak on BETDAQ this morning).

Third behind Artistic Streak in that romp of a race a week ago was Cheap Jack, who could beat Mr Carbonator only half a length over today’s trip in the autumn.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
