TODAY: BULL’S-EYE BETS TO RING THE BELL: The going forecasts have changed to include ‘soft’ all round, except at Thirsk, which is why Daqman naps there. He goes for bull’s-eye strikes in the Lanark Silver Bell at Hamilton tonight at 6.5, 10.5 and 49.0.

DISTANCE WILL SUIT THE ADMIRAL

⭕ 2.20 Thirsk Sir Mark Prescott landed a 13.0 winner for Daqman on Monday when the Make Believe grey Pretending launched what seems sure to be a sequence, after just one educational run.

He sends Kempton eyecatcher, Rose Of Ithaca, up to Thirsk in similar circumstances. Anjo Bonita and Kittykarma also have promising credentials but their stables usually prefer to wait for a handicap mark.

BETDAQ 5.5 Rose Of Ithaca.

⭕ 3.30 Thirsk Since Richard Fahey acquired Admiral D from Ireland, he’s been busy over 6f on hot class-2 tracks at Ascot, Newmarket and York, needing today’s extra furlong. Whatever the quality label says, there are only a couple of class-2 winners in this field.

George Boughey, who trains Air To Air, is no longer in such flying form (2-21 since Oscula won at Deauville); and Carnival Zain is claimed off, 20lb higher than when his winning run started.

A high draw for Admiral D would normally be a worry on this swinging left-hander but they’ve been bunching in the straight and splitting into a central group lately, away from the low rail.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 6.6 Admiral D

49.0 BLISS CAN RING SILVER BELL

⭕ 6.53 Hamilton (Lanark Silver Bell, class 2, 1m 4f) Officially ‘good to soft, soft in places’ but the morning forecast was for more showers. Winners on soft are Cormier, Dark Jedi, Fishable, Haliphon, Haveyoumissedme, Sir Chauvelin, State Of Bliss, Strawberri, Tilsitt.

Ages three and four invariably win this (10-10 in the decade) with 90% to northern trainers (Mark Johnston hat-trick 2013 to 2015), though William Haggas joined in last year with a gambled-on winner.

His raider here, Pride Of Priory, has a lump of weight but there’s only one runner below 9st this year in a race which has gone five times out of eight to those between 8st and 8st 10lb.

A single-figure stall has a big advantage (six out of eight from stalls 1 to 6), and I like Haliphon (rated 94) from the one stall, after his defeat at Chester of Ebor runner–up Alfred Boucher, who must now race off 104.

Their high draw is a second red flag for the top-weights, with Pride Of Priory, up 16lb for a hat-trick, coming out of 12 and Dark Jedi, only 1-16 in the last year, from 15.

Strawberri won first time upped to 1m 4f but that was on AW and he was dropping in grade for his first win in more than a year.

Hayyoumissedme was gradually raised in class until runner-up over 2m in the Northumberland Vase (the Plate consolation) and then third at less than two lengths, getting a pound from the winner, who was none other than Pride Of Priory, who is now 11lb worse off.

Splitting them in second was Thundering, who at York last week was runner-up, when last year’s winner of the Bell, Mahrajaan, was third and Dark Jedi fourth.

Team Johnston’s State Of Bliss has dropped to his last winning level. After a 50-day break since keeping top company at both the Epsom Derby meeting and Royal Ascot, he weakened final furlong in the Shergar Cup, getting 3lb from the winner, the same old, same old Pride Of Priory.

Today, State Of Bliss gets 11lb and, with the stable’s record in this race, looks a decent each-way bet at a huge price on BETDAQ.

Fighting Pride Of Priory for third place behind Haliphon and State Of Bliss must be Haveyoumissedme in a handicap that will take some winning.

BETDAQ value 6.5 Haliphon, 10.5 Havyoumissedme, 49.0 State Of Bliss

ALPHA BET VALUE AT GOODWOOD

⭕ 7.15 Goodwood (1m, soft) In order to land a treble, Just Amber has to extend his back-to-back wins on firm by racing a total of 12lb higher on soft, his rider having lost his allowance.

Sayifyouwill, who beat Canoodled at Salisbury, has been withdrawn. She would have been a lay for me, 00044 on soft ground for local trainer, Amanda Perrett, who has a shocking record on her home track of just six wins from 107 runners.

Canoodled has performed a summer ‘hat-trick’: three times in a row slowly away, rear running, but finished in front of Alpha Cru, when both were well beaten at Haydock.

Alpha Cru carries a penalty for winning a slow-run race at Chepstow eight days back and gets in just 2lb higher. She was three from four at this time last year, including one win on the soft, and might be good enough in a trappy race.

Her trainer, David O’Meara, has been winning all over the country lately and is the punter’s pal at Goodwood with a 30-point profit to level stakes.

New Heights is 003 on soft. Back-to-back wins on firm in July prompted her to raise her game to class 4 at Windsor over further; she was last of four.

Celtic Express has a tongue-tie added to the hood which has helped her win two small races at this level.

BETDAQ value: 6.6 Alpha Cru

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
