KING DAQMAN THE LION HEART NOW 100 UP ON PRICEWISE: Daqman roared past his tipping targets yesterday, taking his points-winning total to 304 in eight days and powering 100 points clear of Pricewise, the flagbearer of the Racing Post’s 200 experts. Leading 23-6 on winners, Daqman is now + 30 to Pricewise -71.

HE HAS THE DANTE WINNER ALREADY AT 20.0 FOR THE DERBY: Daqman’s 26-points profit yesterday came from his York nap and the Dante Stakes winner, Roaring Lion, which he had already tipped in this column at 20.0 ante-post for the Epsom Derby. The colt was 8.0 this morning in the BETDAQ orange. Yesterday:

WON 3-1 ROARING LION (Dante Stakes)
WON 2-1 CORONET (York nap of the day)

SNAZZY COULD BE 10.0 DAZZLER

2.20 York Richard Fahey, who has won this race twice in seven years, was in cracking form with a hat-trick on the first day of the York meeting, one of them a two-year-old winner.

And his Dark Angel juvenile here, Nicki’s Angel, seemingly well drawn in 2, beat a previous winner when overcoming greenness on good-to-firm ground on her debut at Musselburgh.

Cotubanama scored at Salisbury when it was heavy. She had earlier run third, when green and slow away, a length and a half behind Strings Of Life at Newmarket. Could be close between them now.

No Lippy won a decent race at Chester, the Lily Agnes, but this straight 5f is an entirely different ball game, and she will have to be very smart to land a hat-trick from the front.

Carrie’s Vision (BETDAQ 8.0 this morning) and Snazzy (12.5 offers) – drawn on opposite sides of the track in 1 and 14 – both made comfortable starts to their juvenile careers and they are the two in this race who are bred in the sprinting purple

2.35 Newbury High numbers are best in this sprint handicap and rarely do you see two Group performers in adjacent stalls (10 and 11) with such value in the BETDAQ market; you can back both Global Applause (7.6 offers) and Poets Vanity (9.8).

THREADING BRED TO LIKE IT FIRM

2.55 York Seventh in both the Cheveley Park last season and the Nell Gwyn this, Threading won the Lowther on today’s course and could bounce back on this sound surface.

She has raced mainly with cut in the ground and you have to believe that, as an Exceed And Excel, she will show the trait of her sire’s progeny for a firmish surface. If she does, 3.6 on BETDAQ this morning is big.

Juliet Foxtrot was just in front of Threading in the Nell Gwyn after being unable to get a run two out but Charles Hills seems to be blaming the filly by declaring her in a first-time hood.

Dark Rose Angel would stand a chance as May Hill runner-up but Simon Crisford’s stable is badly out of form (0-16, among them five favourites turned over).

Roger Varian is not at his best. His bridesmaid, Sheikha Reika, finally got her head in front at Newmarket, but second and third were from a stable out of form.

Awesometank landed a nursery double last autumn, one of them here, after being beaten a neck at Lingfield by the subsequent French 1,000 Guineas winner, Teppal. But there could be a big difference in their progress since then.

STRADIVARIUS TUNED UP FOR THIS

3.30 York (Yorkshire Cup) Seldom a very big field for this but still remarkable that the last six winners have been drawn 2, 3 and 4.

With one exception (in sot ground in 2013), the winner’s been well enough known in advance, with eight out of nine priced at SP between 13-8 and 4-1.

So far at York this week, the gambles have gone astray but it will need a big one to shift Stradivarius from pole position.

He’s at least 5lb clear of any of these and his stable came good big time yesterday with Coronet and Roaring Lion.

Because he won the Doncaster Cup, the unfortunate Desert Skyline (target the Ascot Gold Cup) finds himself giving weight to Stradivarius though that one beat him more than five lengths in the Goodwood Cup.

Max Dynamite, second and third in the Melbourne Cup, hasn’t won a Flat race shorter than 2m since 2013, and his hurdles form this Spring has been poor.
