BANK HOLIDAY BETS BONANZA: Happy Bank Holiday hunt for BETDAQ value! Daqman today probes all seven meetings in England and Ireland, looking for a bonanza of winners at all prices. He supplies a UK and Irish banker which could prove a treat with BETDAQ Multiples at 3.88.

AAR! 14-1 FINISHES TOO LATE: Daqman beat Pricewise yet again yesterday with win and place on fast-finisher Aarad, 14-1 third in the Irish Cambridgeshire, but, though it’s a return, he doesn’t count it because he didn’t make a profit on the race.

DAQMAN’S 32.0 BETDAQ BUSTER: Today there is a UK banker in the 1.00 Chepstow, an Irish banker in the 5.00 Roscommon and there are outsiders at Epsom, Newcastle and Ripon, offered at 32.0, 24.0 and 11.0 on BETDAQ early mouse.

AMUSE YOURSELF WITH THIS CARTMEL PAIR

4.40 Cartmel Phil Smith’s knowledge of the form at Avignon, Cluny and Pary-Le-Monial is put to the test here with the British handicap debut of Dauphine Ereine for David Pipe. She has been handed an opening mark of 130 which considering her hat-trick of wins in traditionally strong French four-year-old chases, could potentially be very lenient.

However, she will be tackling British style fences for the first time here against some far more experienced rivals (she is the youngest in the race by four years!) and the recent form figures of David Pipe’s runners of 621734967 wouldn’t inspire confidence.

Champion jockey Richard Johnson takes the ride aboard Amuse Me for local trainer James Moffatt whose yard were in good form at the meeting here on Saturday registering a first, second and fifth in the feature ‘Cartmel Cup’. He will be receiving weight from the likely favorite and could run a big race at 10.0.

5.10 Cartmel Dubh Eile and Young Dillon clashed at Southwell recently with Dubh Eile getting the better of Dr Newland’s gelding but with the benefit of that run Young Dillon is expected to turn the tables. He was driven upsides at the second last that day before tiring late on and he is expected to resume winning ways this afternoon.

CHEPSTOW: ASCOT RUN A GOOD OMEN

1.00 Chepstow David Simcock has a 40% strike rate with two-year-olds on this track. He was on a hat-trick in the opener but swerves that to run Mashadie Boy in this one.

He was obviously ‘expected’ first time, backed down to 2-1 favourite at Chelmsford, but blew his chances with a slow start.

Jamie Spencer must have reported ‘hearing a noise’, because Mashadie Boy is tongue-tied now in a bid to recoup the losses.

Good Omen ran a similar race; out of his ground until making good late progress, second at Ascot.

The difference is that the third and fourth home in his race have both won since; an eponymous good omen and at around 1.78 he is banker material.

3.10 Chepstow Highland Colori, Glory Awaits and Dessertoflife have all failed to score since being dropped from the Pattern.

Now it’s the turn of They Seek Him Here (7.0) to have a go; Group 2 and Group 3 performer as a two-year-old who won when fresh, so presumably has been brought back for a first-time hit.

He’s the only runner of the day for Hugo Palmer, who is in stunning form with five wins and 10 others placed from his last 20 starters, a 75% place-strike rate.

RENDEZVOUS TO PEAK AT DOWNPATRICK

4.10 Downpatrick Downpatrick has proved Gordon Elliott’s happiest hunting ground in Ireland so far this season with 8 winners and a 25% strike rate and he runs three in this competitive handicap hurdle. Rendezvous Peak (4.3) is the pick of Jack Kennedy and he must have an excellent chance on the back of his third at Bellewstown last week.

5.50 Downpatrick Not the strongest of races with most of the main protagonists seemingly out of form. With that in mind House Limit could be worth a chance at the bottom of the handicap. He is a previous winner at Downpatrick and was second in a similar contest over course and distance in June. Early shows of around 9.0 could underestimate his chance.

EPSOM: VISION OF OUTSIDER WINNING

3.15 Epsom A tasty class-2 sprint, hurtling down the hill at around 40mph. And that’s only me, chasing the value in Field Of Vision (33.0), last autumn’s Cornwallis runner-up.

That effort cost him a vicious swipe from the handicapper but he’s been dropped a stone since the Spring, despite early placed efforts this year.

At the front of the market, the nine-year-old Humidor appeared to be back to form at Goodwood in a big field on the last day.

It’s a fast pack for Huntsman’s Close – he normally needs another furlong – but Brighton specialist King Crimson should like this course, and cheekpieces may be worth a pound or two to Olivia Fallow.

3.50 Epsom With Jim Crowley the monkey on his back, champion Silvestre De Sousa needs all the hot spares he can get to keep his jockeys’ title.

De Sousa is 29% riding for Bill Knight but what’s more important to the punter looking for something to beat the favourite is that the combo has made a huge level-stakes profit of 41 points.

We, therefore, dare a pound on the outsider Goodwood Zodiac (8.8), who won here at Epsom in back-to-back autumn successes last year, and the trainer thought he hadn’t quite come to hand when second at 33-1 back on the Downs in June.

He’s won since at today’s level at Windsor.

NEWCASTLE: GEORGE’S GEORDIE POT

1.15 Newcastle The Blaydon Race Nursery is the big pot here, and I’m surprised there isn’t a southern raider.

Kevin Ryan (2-4), Mark Johnston (2-8), John Quinn (1-2), Karl Burke and Richard Fahey are already off the mark with juveniles on the new Tapeta surface here.

Quinn’s winner was George Reme, who beat Drochaid and Third Order in July, both of them good winners since on grass.

Of the first, second and fourth at Ayr on the soft around that time – Temerity, Permian and Proud Arch – we know that Permian has won on AW, scored twice since on turf and is better off today with Temerity.

Roar’s victim at Beverley in June, Bear Valley, has scored twice since. Major Cornwallis (24.0) was also runner-up in June, and that was on this Tapeta. The handicapper may have taken a chance allotting him 72 here.

RIPON: LET DRAW BE AN INSPIRATION

3.20 Ripon Rowels Michael Dods farms this – four winners since 2008; all ages four to nine – and Finn Class has a stalls advantage.

The last six winners have all been drawn from 1 to 4. Gate 4 itself has landed the race three times in four years!

Wilde Inspiration is the one in stall 4 this time, 3lb lower than when third last year from gate 9, and Home Cummins (in the one stall today) did well at Goodwood after winning at York, albeit off 5lb lower than today’s mark.

Indy hasn’t won since the debut maiden, which is always a bad sign but, though drawn further out in seven, Knight Owl could continue to improve in only his third race this year, a hat-trick thwarted by the slow pace at Yarmouth.

3.55 Ripon (Champion Two-Year-Olds Trophy) Yet another tricky two-year-old race. Clues include Kodiline’s Group-1 entry (Middle Park).

And Johnny Murtagh is prepared to travel over to give Grand Coalition (6.4) a chance to redeem himself after inevitable defeats by Caravaggio in the Coventry and the Phoenix.

But equally – of the filly who gets the allowances here – you could say that Kocollada has no Lady Aurelia (Queen Mary) and Fair Eva (Princess Margaret) to beat.

Alicante Dawn ran away with a Thirsk nursery despite topweight but the placed fillies have proved to be no better than class 5.

Mailshot failed to do the same trick, also off 9st 7lb, in a Goodwood nursery but it was a much stronger field.

SADLER’S WORTH THE RISK AT ROSCOMMON

5.00 Roscommon Ice Canyon has been improving steadily and the form of his last run behind De Boss Man got a significant boost yesterday at the Curragh when he finished third in the Group 3 Round Tower Stakes. Ice Canyon was closing fast at the line last time and the extra furlong should be a help today. At an early show of 2.66 he rates as banker material.

7.00 Roscommon Only four runners but a fascinating contest here headed by former Ascot Gold Cup second and Melbourne Cup fourth Simenon (2.2). After some disappointing runs on the flat he appeared to have come back to form over hurdles winning two. However after another poor run when beaten comprehensively at 2/7 on the flat, he is taken on here.

Preference instead is for Sadler’s Risk who will be receipt of 10lbs from his main market rivals. He is a thorough stayer having won the Munster National last year and his return run behind Alelchi Inois was more than satisfactory. So we will round off a big bank holiday of racing with a double down backing Sadler’s Risk and laying Simenon.
