OUCH! NAP BEATEN A HEAD 17-2 AND FRENCH OAKS SECOND WAS 7.0: Daqman was out of luck yesterday when two late finishers were second, Philomene in the French Oaks at Chantilly (2nd 33-10 from 7.0 on BETDAQ) and a daring nap, Abduction (2nd 17-2 beaten a head) at Pontefract. Today Windsor has been abandoned tonight so Daqman switches to Chepstow for his nap.

FORTUNE COOKIES WILL FIGURE IN THE BIG DECIDERS OF JULY: Which July race will see the clash of established stars and the new kids from a sensational Ascot: Coral-Eclipse or King George? Or both? Daqman will need to revisit his Fortune Cookies as decisions are made.

JULY BIG FORTUNE COOKIES MONTH

Race of the century? The BETDAQ Sportsbook market for the Coral-Eclipse (Sandown, 1m 2f, July 3) suggests a star line-up worthy of such an epithet.

They won’t all go of course but if half of them do we are in for a treat to match the 21st-century star Eclipses by Sea The Stars, Nathaniel, Golden Horn and Enable.

If half the front eight alone were to run, the quartet could contain the pick of 3.5 Mishriff, 3.75 St Mark’s Basilica, 4 Love, 8 Mohaafeth, 9 Bolshoi Ballet, 11 Addeybb, 12 Palace Pier, 15 Mac Swiney.

The King George (1m 4f) will claim it’s quota over the extra distance, some in each race surely representing this Fortune Cookies list, which had four winners at Royal Ascot.

If you think the punter has a headache, check out the Fab Four in William Haggas’ team!

Next week I will assess both races with a view to distance and going. The difference between 1m 2f and 1m 4f is a subtle one; but between firm and heavy ground? Well, both happened at the same Royal Ascot meeting last week!

🏇 ADDEYBB (William Haggas): Engaged in both big July races.

🏇 AL AASY (William Haggas): King George and Arc de Triomphe targets.

🏇 ALENQUER (William Haggas) A third William Haggas star and there’s still one to come in this list! Proved in winning the King Edward V11 Stakes that his Sandown defeat of subsequent Derby winner, Adayar, was no fluke.

🏇 CAMPANELLE ( Wesley Ward): Sensational Commonwealth Cup as she gets the race in the Stewards room.

🏇 EAST ASIA ( Ian Williams) Our 33-1 ante-post Northumberland Plate bet.

🏇 GLASS SLIPPERS (Kevin Ryan) Recovering from a setback; winner of the Flying Five at the Curragh in September and the Abbaye at Longchamp.

🏇 LAZULI (Charlie Appleby) July Cup, Newmarket, Saturday, July 10

🏇 MISHRIFF (Team Gosden): Coral-Eclipse favourite.

🏇 MOHAAFETH ( William Haggas) again! Missed the Epsom Derby but making up the time now after winning at Royal Ascot.

🏇 PALACE PIER (Team Gosden): eight out of nine after taking the Queen Anne.

🏇 QUICK SUZY (Gavin Cromwell): set the two-year-old fillies’ world alight in the Queen Mary.

🏇 REAL WORLD (Saeed Bin Surror): Burst through to go clear in the Royal Hunt Cup, a Group horse in a handicap.

🏇 SNOWFALL (Aidan O’Brien) Absolutely cruised the Oaks; the new Enable.

🏇 ST MARK’S BASILICA (Aidan O’Brien) French Guineas and Derby double

🏇 SUBJECTIVIST (Mark Johnston) Deposed the mighty Stradivarius, who was boxed in but Subjectivist would have won the Gold Cup anyway.

🏇 WONDERFUL TONIGHT (David Menuisier) Stylish Hardwicke Stakes victory first run back with the ground in her favour.

TEAM OSBORNE FOR NAP

⭕ 4.00 Chepstow Windsor’s abandonment today (after more than 63mm of rain since Wednesday evening) shows just how touch and go it was for nearby Ascot last week – particularly on Friday when the heavens opened.

No surprises, being the week after the week before, that it’s a modest start to the racing week and my original nap was planned for Windsor it’s now plan B, or more more aptly, plan C at Chepstow.

Saffie Osborne has been riding with plenty of confidence since her return from injury and her win on Saturday night aboard Canoodled at Lingfield was the easiest winner of the day – Royal Ascot included.

She teams up here on her father’s runner Yanifer who looks well worth an interest on just his second start on turf. He was a revelation when first tried on grass at Salisbury when travelling well and only narrowly beaten by Amal – the pair pulled six lengths clear of the third.

He went off a 20/1 chance that day on the back of some fairly modest all-weather form but on similar fast ground at Chepstow could easily be well above his lowly handicap mark.

Gosnay Gold is the obvious danger given he looks to be running into form and there was plenty to like about his Goodwood runner-up spot. The stable (William Muir and Chris Grassick) are even winning with the stable cat at the moment but I just fancy that Yanifer is the least exposed and has the most progression.

THE WORD IS FOR OUR MAN

⭕ 5.30 Chepstow Three out of this but it remains very competitive. Preference goes to Our Man In Havana whose last win came here over six furlongs last July.

He showed plenty of speed over this shorter trip last time out here when narrowly beaten by 50/1 shock winner Ghepardo and should again go close under Mollie Phillips here.

There’s a small advantage to be drawn high over the minimum trip at Chepstow – so he’s fared best of all in box 10.

SID BRINGS THE C&D FORM

⭕ 6.50 Wolverhampton The best race of the night at Dunstall Park and Mercurial will go off a short priced favourite on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE on the back of three good efforts on turf, notably at Beverley last time out when third in the class 2 Two Year Old Trophy.

It’s good form but the Beverley form was on soft ground and Mercurial gets his first experience of the all-weather tonight. He might take to it well of course but you are paying a short price to find out.

Sidcot Swallet already has C&D form in the book. He was only beaten a head on debut when going off a 50/1 chance and can only improve for that effort. The third from that race Sagittarius came out to win a better contest at Lingfield next time out and if there are any flaws in the favourite ‘Sid’ could be there to pounce.

DAQMAN’S BETS (staked to win 10 points)
BET 4.2pts win (nap) YANIFER (4.00 Chepstow)
BET 3.5pts win OUR MAN IN HAVANA (5.30 Chepstow)
BET 2.5pts win SIDCOT SWALLET (6.50 Wolverhampton)

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
