PARK POSTED AS CHAMPIONSHIP MATERIAL: The impressive Thurles winner yesterday, Dortmund Park, is added to Daqman’s horses-to-follow list, a championship team which backs up the Fortune Cookies premier league for Cheltenham and beyond. New additions are analysed alongside those brought forward from previous lists.

THREE MONDAY BETS: After a painful three seconds in his four tipping races yesterday, Daqman today has found three bets from Fakenham and Wolverhampton.

FORTUNE COOKIES UPDATE

THERE are just three places left in Daqman’s Fortune Cookies for Cheltenham and beyond. The latest recruit is Getabird. But Daqman is watching a dozen more in his Horses To Follow list (attached) and his old favourite Cause Of Causes would be added once his wellbeing is established.

212 AINCHEA (Colin Tizzard) Ballymore Novices Hurdle
421 BLAKLION (Nigel Twiston-Davies) Cheltenham Gold Cup
110 BRISTOL DE MAI (Nigel Twiston-Davies) Cheltenham Gold Cup
111 BUVEUR D’AIR (Nicky Henderson) Champion Hurdle
122 CRACKING SMART (Gordon Elliott) Ballymore and Albert Bartlett
111 NEXT DESTINATION (Willie Mullins) Ballymore and Albert Bartlett
111 POLITOLOGUE (Paul Nicholls) Champion Chase
110 SIZING JOHN (Jessica Harrington) Cheltenham Gold Cup
111 GETABIRD (Willie Mullins) Willie couldn’t hide his excitement after this one won at Punchestown. ‘Jumped fantastic, made his own running and seemed to have plenty of pace.’ Supreme Novices or Ballymore.

‘ACTING’ HORSE TO FOLLOW

Acting Lass (Harry Fry) The Kings Theatre seven-year-old didn’t beat very much in his hat-trick completed at Ascot on Saturday but shouts ‘improver’ the way he races and had something up his sleeve at the finish at Ascot, confirmed by evidence from his breeding that he will do even better over further.
Al Boum Photo (Willie Mullins)
Altior (Nicky Henderson)
Aristo De Plessis (James Ewart)
Barra (Gordon Elliott)
Beer Goggles (Richard Woollacott)
Braqueur d’Or (Paul Nicholls)
Bullionaire (Harry Fry)
Burbank (Nicky Henderson) Was in our Christmas list but was beaten odds-on favourite on his chasing debut. Back to hurdling, last year’s Neptune fourth responded to first-time cheekpieces, third to stablemate Jenkins on Saturday.
Crossed My Mind (Arthur Moore) Showed a nice cruising speed to move up three out in Jenkins race on Saturday, after being nearly brought down earlier. Better ground in handicaps at the Spring festivals could see him in the money.
Dortmund Park (Gordon Elliott) A big chasing type. Despite the trainer’s fears about the ground, he ran right away from a strong field at Thurles yesterday and looks to have a big future.
Jers Girl (Gavin Cromwell)
Lady Karina (Venetia Williams)
Jerrysback (Philip Hobbs)
On The Blind Side (Nicky Henderson)
Ravenhill Road (Brian Ellison)
Sam Spinner (Jedd O’Keefe)
Tintern Theatre (Nigel Twiston-Davies) Moving into contention in the Peter Marsh when mistake three out. Better ground could see him land a decent handicap.
Total Recall (Willie Mullins)

HIS NAME IS RIO

Lingfield has succumb to the weather today but Fakenham goes ahead on heavy ground with a late starting card on the all-weather card at Wolverhampton.

I thought the ground was desperate at Fontwell yesterday until I saw pictures from Thurles !

Heavy just doesn’t do it justice and I think there now needs to be a new going descriptor for conditions worse than heavy…. quagmire perhaps?

1.55 Fakenham Rio Quinto looks worthy of nap status. A shade under evens at the time of writing on BETDAQ – it was hard not to be impressed by his recent course win where he scooted home by 34 lengths no less.

Whilst the winning distance flattered him due to the last flight fall of Dakkar Collonges, he proved his liking for what can be an idiosyncratic sharp course and testing ground and I think he will be even better over this longer trip.

Earlshill was only narrowly beaten into third at Uttoxeter last time but that was on good to soft whilst Oscar Star won well at Southwell over a smilier trip and is probably the biggest danger even with the penalty.

3.25 Fakenham Just the six runners but a tightly framed handicap chase.

Preference is for the longer travelling Achill Road Boy who faces his easiest task for a long time and is down to double digits in the handicap for the first time in his career.

His two career wins have both come on testing ground and the drop back in trip today could also be a positive.

7.20 Wolverhampton The Wolver crowd took to a flying finisher called Rockwood at this time a couple of years back but haven’t seen him since.

After moving from David Griffiths to Karen McLintock, and being fitted with a visor, Rockwood ran five times at the Midlands track (January-March 2016) for form figures of 21112, three times made favourite.

The money was down again last night, with Rockwood backed in from 10-1 to 5-1 with bookmakers. The Rock Of Gibraltar gelding was still around 6.6 in the BETDAQ orange this morning.

Rockwood won twice last year on turf, including in a race a grade higher than tonight. He has a nice draw for his return to the same Wolver CD of his 2016 triumphs, dropped 7lb since last summer.

DAQMAN’S BETS (staked to win 20 except nap)

BET 8.0pts win ACHILL ROAD BOY (3.25 Fakenham)
