BACK-TO-BACK BANKERS UP: Daqman followed up his winning Friday banker on BETDAQ day at Doncaster with another yesterday at Chelmsford. The pair were both odds against on BETDAQ but finished the same shade of odds on at SP, confirming the strength of his selections:

WON 10-11 Birdman (Friday)
WON 10-11 Nabatean (Sunday)

BETDAQ RACING AT KEMPTON: There’s more BETDAQ racing today – for the third time in four days – with the meeting at Kempton Park under the Daqman spyglass.

PUNCHESTOWN POWER: But first Daqman looks ahead to the big meeting of the week, the Punchestown Festival, which starts tomorrow.

CHAMPIONS ON PARADE AT PUNCHESTOWN

TUESDAY: Incredibly, the Champion Novice Hurdle (4.20) has produced back-to-back champion hurdlers at Cheltenham in Jezki and Faugheen, following on Hurricane Fly (2009).

Two of those three champions were trained Willie Mullins, who is expected to have an odds-on favourite in Douvan, winner of Cheltenham’s Supreme Novices’ Hurdle in March.

Henry De Bromhead, who won the Sandown Gold Cup on Saturday with Special Tiara, is expected to announce 13-year-old Sizing Europe’s retirement, win or lose, after the Champion Chase (5.30), which he has won two years out of three, beaten only in 2013 by the then supreme Sprinter Sacre.

Willie Mullins appears to have another obvious follow-on from Cheltenham, when his RSA winner, Don Poli, contests a small but select field for the Champion Novice Chase (6.40).

But be warned that only one favourite has won in the last nine years, two of them failing to finish.

WEDNESDAY The Punchestown Gold Cup (5.30) was twice won by an Aintree Grand National winner, and two others to triumph in the decade took the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

THURSDAY The Ladbroke World Series Hurdle (5.30) has Jetson defending his title – he stopped Quevega’s run at four in a row – but needing to bounce back from poor efforts at Cheltenham and Aintree. Wants rain.

FRIDAY: Surely Faugheen will be the shortest price of the week, if he takes in the Champion Hurdle (5.30), after nine wins in a row, including here on the Tuesday last year (which is where I came in).

FIVE MORE BETDAQ RACES AT KEMPTON

1.40 KEMPTON – BETDAQ.COM £20 FREE BET MAIDEN STAKES

This is quite an intriguing maiden. Eight runners, two from Godolphin, an interesting newcomer for John Gosden and a Hughie Morrison runner that could take all the beating.

It’s hard to grasp what the Godolphin pair could. A 4 Year Old by New Approach making his debut and seeing as it’s taken so long to make his debut he’s obviously been a backward type and is probably best watched today. Reports are that he works quite well though.

Their other runner, King Of Country was down the field on his debut at Newmarket and steps up in trip this afternoon. Although he holds a Derby entry, he’s going to have to be an extremely impressive winner of this to warrant keeping that entry but there’s no guarantee that will happen.

The betting is likely to be the best guide for the John Gosden trained Al Rifai. The Galileo colt is nicely bred and if he doesn’t manage to win, he will surely improve for the run.

Black Key finished just over three lengths behind Isamol a few weeks back at Windsor over slightly shorter. The winner is now rated 82 and that may be the best guideline for this race. Black Key is likely to be the one to beat.

2.15 KEMPTON – CASH OUT ON THE BETDAQ+ APP EBF MAIDEN STAKES

The second race on the card looks a slightly weaker contest over seven furlongs.

Despite being without a win from six runs so far, this looks to be the best opportunity for the son of Arcano to finally get off the mark. It looks as though he should be well enough suited by the All Weather conditions although he is looking a little exposed now, his current handicap mark of 90 makes it difficult to see beyond him.

2.50 KEMPTON – FREE TRADING SOFTWARE AVAILABLE ON BETDAQ.COM HANDICAP

This is another fairly competitive contest. A handicap over a mile with 14 runners and some very unexposed types.

Mistamel heads the weights and has a chance but may be a little high in the handicap. The same could be said for Cape Cay who will need to show marked improvement to belie his mark of 69.

Cape Xenia and Precast appear to be the most unexposed of the group though with a slight preference leaning towards Precast. David Simcock’s charge ran well enough on her Handicap debut over course and distance last time to suggest that there was more to come from her. Running again today off 64, she was beaten just over two lengths by the 73 rated Buckleberry which looks to be solid form and Precast is the one to catch.

3.20 KEMPTON – BETDAQ.COM 50% COMMISSION REFUND HANDICAP

This is another tricky race, a Handicap over a mile and again there looks to be a good mix between those who are exposed and not exposed.

On paper, Voyageofdiscovery is the form pick but there are a couple of others who are more open to improvement.

One of those is Squire who won last time out over a mile at Windsor. This gelding has some previous form at Kempton over today’s trip and was stepped afterwards to 10 and 12 furlongs but never seemed to last home. The trip of a mile looks to be his optimum and he can hopefully follow up on his recent success with another today.

Mon Cigar is one to keep note of at the bottom of the handicap. He will be interesting to watch stepping up in trip and in class. I would have questioned his enthusiasm in his last two runs when powering home late to get beaten by a head both times but the step up to a mile should suit as it takes him slightly longer to get going in the finishing kick to the line. It may even be the case that he will be better over further again later in the season.

3.50 KEMPTON – BETDAQ COMMISSION FREE FOOTBALL ON SATURDAYS HANDICAP

Another tricky race over seven furlongs which could go any way. There looks to be quite a few that would be seen as fancied runners with the likes of Light Rose, Exceeding Power, Teen Ager and Substantivo in the field.

The one that I like most though is Red Cossack who steps back up to 7 furlongs having been campaigned over 6 since June last year.

The interesting thing about this Paul Webber gelding is that this time last year he ran off 73 in Leicester having finishing second the time before in Maiden over course and distance in October. He now runs off 63 and is a likely type to improve for the step back up in trip. He wasn’t disgraced last time out over 6 at Kempton where he simply didn’t have the pace to beat more able sprinters despite hitting the front a furlong out.

That form, to me, looks a telling sign of a horse that is open to a much better run off a much lower handicap.
