TODAY ‘S TIPS: Daqman starts the week with three bets including a nap at Kempton – don’t get caught out, it’s an afternoon meeting at Kempton on Monday.

‘CUT 300 MEETINGS’ DEMAND

⚠️ HEADS UP Cut 300 meetings not 300 races. That’s the verdict of top trainer William Haggas, who is responsible for world champion Baaeed, due to reappear at York next week.

The plan to reduce next year’s fixtures by 300 races was rejected but now Haggas has stepped in to call for a reduction of around one fifth of meetings.

He speaks for the National Trainers Federation, who are alarmed that field sizes are at a record low and want to discontinue the rule whereby funds are allocated to racecourses by number of fixtures.

⚠️ HEADS UP Highfield Princess, dropped from our Fortune Cookies because her sprint level was sub-Group-1, showed yesterday that, as a seven-furlong winner, the extended 6f (by 110 yards) at Deauville was perfect for her, even at the highest level.

The mare started at around 16-1 but was able to leave behind Platinum Jubilee winner Naval Crown over the unique distance of the Prix Maurice De Gheest.

Nevertheless trainer John Quinn nominated the Flying Five at the Curragh as a stepping-stone to the Abbaye at the Longchamp Arc meeting and then the Breeders Cup.

⚠️HEADS UP The Frankel filly Homeless Songs – another Fortune Cookie – winner of the Irish 1,000 Guineas winner, will run in the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown (September 10) if there is ‘some decent cut’ in the ground, says trainer Dermot Weld, confirming our target race in the latest Cookies’ list.

FARIBA TO LIGHT UP KEMPTON

⭕ 2.00 Kempton A rare afternoon meeting on the Kempton Polytrack – at least they are saving some electricity money on the floodlights!

Fariba should prove hard to beat in this maiden fillies race. She made a pleasing debut at Newcastle a couple of weeks ago when she stayed on nicely in the closing stages and was only beaten a length and a quarter at the end.

None of the top six from that race have raced again since, so it’s hard to know the value of the form but it looked above average at the time and Fariba should improve for the step up to a mile.

Feyha showed some promise on her debut at Ffos Las and is another that should benefit for the step up in trip (half a furlong in her case) but is likely to show her best form over even further in time.

Rosette was fancied on her debut at Epsom but didn’t seem to enjoy the course and ended up being beaten nearly eight lengths. She should show better here over a course which is much simpler than Epsom.

GENGHIS IS SHORTER

⭕ 6.35 Windsor My Genghis has started at 125/1, 125/1 and 150/1 in his three starts to date but the penny dropped last time out at Leicester and he can continue the good recent form of trainer Tony Carroll.

He finished a really creditable third at Leicester behind the odds-on Gosden trained Dukedom and arguably would have finished closer (was beaten 2 1/4 lengths) but for being short of room.

He will be much shorter today on the Betdaq Betting Exchange but is much preferred to the morning market leader Rich Rhythm who flopped at Thirsk last time out and you are paying a short price to find out whether a bounce back is on the cards.

PIASTRELLA FOR FOLLOW UP

⭕ 8.20 Ripon Piastrella can defy her penalty for winning at York last time out. She’s up 3lb but DOWN a grade and seemed to have plenty in hand at York under today’s pilot Faye McManoman.

Main danger in the market in Dungar Glory whose only win to date has come on the all-weather and whilst it was a better effort here last time out when second over the 1m 2f trip, she would have made more appeal if given some relief from the handicapper.
