ROYAL ASCOT FORTUNE COOKIES

🎩 TOPPERS of the week! Fortune Cookies, listed in race order with their official ratings, feature in eight races at Royal Ascot this week.

The only clash – if it happens – is in Friday’s Coronation Stakes, when last year’s filly star, Inspiral, returns against one of the big improvers of this season, Homeless Songs. But Songs is doubtful; she would only be singing in the rain.

Trueshan connections also face pulling out of the Gold Cup if the going is on the firm side. He’s won back-to-back Long Distance Cups at the Ascot Champions Day meetings of 2020-21, both on soft or softish ground.

Another Fortune Cookies team building up nicely is for June 25-26 at the Curragh, with targets including the Irish Derby, Pretty Polly Stakes and Railway Stakes.

SIR MICHAEL IN TOP FORM

⭕ 3.30 Lingfield It might well prove to be a day for keeping the powder dry ahead of the feast of racing this week and a time to rely on Daqman’s staking plan where one winner will return a profit based on the stakes at prices traded at the time of writing.

I start that quest at Lingfield this afternoon where Sir Michael Stoute can continue his excellent patch of form with Aeonian. It hasn’t all been about Desert Crown – the Newmarket handler has had three winners and several places from his 12 runners since Derby day.

Aeonian won on debut at Yarmouth and then ran well in a better race over a mile at Haydock. This further step up in trip should suit and he can make a winning start in handicap company at the expense of chief BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE rival Big Meeting.

Big Meeting beat a Stoute trained runner, easily, at Chelmsford when relishing the step up in trip and should appreciate the further distance. I just have a question mark over the form though as it looked a little too good to be true. The 2/5 favourite flopped in third spot and just doesn’t look the sort of race to take at face value.

FLAME LOOKS HOT

⭕ 5.15 Nottingham The other half of the Derby winning axis is Richard Kingscote who has also been in good form since Epsom.

He teams up here with Midnight Flame who went into my notebook after finishing fourth on debut at Goodwood.

It looked a decent maiden at the time and she should should be suited by the better ground and hopefully come on plenty for her first start.

Miska, trained by the Crisfords, looks the obvious danger after her debut at Lingfield but she was beaten six and a half lengths into second and at this very early stage Midnight Flame looks stronger.

PRE-ASCOT PARADISE

⭕ 8.10 Windsor The crowd watching the finale at Windsor won’t need to stroll far for the opener at Royal Ascot on Tuesday.

I’m hoping In Paradise can send them on their way in style.

The Tony Newcombe trained runner showed much improved form at Leicester last time out when third to Simply Sondheim who has won both his starts since.

That looks solid enough form in the context of this modest event where only Devorgilla concerns me most.

However she will need to bounce back from a disappointing effort at Brighton where the softer ground probably counted against her.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
