EXPECT CLASSIC PONTEFRACT PUNT: Daqman is on the supernap trail again today after landing one yesterday, Verdana Blue (WON 8-13), from around evens in the morning. Today’s at Pontefract was 3.6 early mouse on BETDAQ but is being talked up by the trainer for next season’s Classic trials.

CHECK OUT BREEDERS CUP BETTING: BETDAQ also had offers on four races for the Breeders Cup this morning, and Daqman warns of a reported absentee.

LAURENS MISSES BREEDERS CUP

Another fillies showdown? The Breeders’ Cup dirt races at Churchill Downs on November 3 are a Them-and-Us face off between America and raiders from Europe, which the home team usually win.

But our raiders are surfing the turf! Apart from Enable’s odds-on Breeders Cup Turf gift, the Filly And Mare on grass could be yet another decider between England, Ireland and France in this amazing season for the Euro ‘girls.’

BETDAQ offers have Wild Illusion (Charlie Appleby) favourite from Sistercharlie (Alex Pantall), Laurens (Karl Burke), Magical (Aidan O’Brien), Magic Wand (Aidan O’Brien), Eziyra (Dermot Weld) and Happily (Aidan O’Brien), with just one USA home defender in among them.

Be warned that John Dance, the owner, said yesterday that Prix Diane winner Laurens will not be going to America after her disappointing effort in Saturday’s Queen Elizabeth 11 at Ascot.

And of Magical, Aidan O’Brien said: She’s very valuable and because she had an injury we will want to make sure she’s okay. She’d have to be 100 per cent to go to America.

O’Brien has another big Group-1 decision to make for this Saturday at Doncaster: which of his 23 current acceptors will he run in the Futurity Trophy (ex-Racing Post), which he’s won eight times, including with subsequent Classic stars High Chaparral, Camelot and (last year) Saxon Warrior.

Japan (form figures 011) and Norway, both sons of Galileo, are the standouts on form. Japan is a big, hardy type who will surely progress and looks right for this.

Norway (0311), full brother to Ruler Of The World, was impressive on the last day but this Futurity comes a bit soon and he may be finished for the season.

Still with the two-year-olds, the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf is well spaced for a rematch of the Lagardere one-two, Royal Marine for Godolphin and Broome for Ballydoyle.

And it may just be enough time for Advertise (Martyn Meade) and Anthony Van Dyke (O’Brien), who were the placed horses behind Too Darn Hot in the Dewhurst.

MANUELA’S CLASSIC-TRIAL HINT

3.30 Pontefract Mark Johnston’s I’ll Have Another would be an appropriate punt for this Silver Tankard (Listed) Stakes. She ran second in the Zetland to none other than Norway, whom we’ve just discussed with Saturday’s Futurity in mind.

Three Comets was runner-up at Epsom to Persian Moon, who had been third in the Acomb. But, since Persian Moon is a stablemate of I’ll Have Another, the form seems to be covered.

Ralph Beckett’s Salisbury winner Manuela De Vega is a different matter. She is talked of by her top fillies’ yard as an Oaks Trial prospect for next season and Beckett is 2-2 in this type of race here.

This morning’s BETDAQ orange had the three principals within a 0.55-point parameter but Manuela may enhance those prospects for Beckett, who has a 45% strike rate at Ponetfract.

This at a time when Mark Johnston’s own strike rate, generally, has slumped (6-75 and 16 losers in the last four days).

5.30 Pontefract Arcavallo could try to boss this field but trainer Michael Dods is currently 0-26, in which he had three favourites, all beaten.

Paul Midgley (Mr Orange) has his yard in a similar state of health (1-24), so I’m siding with last year’s winner off the same mark. Sure to have been primed for this again. In fact, it shows in his form.

That’s 4.0 BETDAQ offer Van Gerwen, who needs some winding up. He’d had three quick runs when he won this in 2017, and he’s had four recently.

6.10 Kempton Jeremy Noseda is 3-4 in Kempton maidens like this one, so the day’s outsider could be No Trouble, who looks massive at 29.0 on BETDAQ.
